The Merano High Mountain Trail – a legendary hiking path This well-known hiking path, number 24, winds its way for something like 100 kilometres through the largest Nature Park in South Tyrol in the shadows of the massive peaks of the Tessa Group. The Naturno Unterstell cable-car and the Texel cable-car in the nearby village of Rablà take hikers up to the path and, once arrived, they can then choose to walk as far as they want at a time. The path meanders about at more-or-less the same height and virtually marks the border between the Alpine climate of the high Tessa Mountain Group and the sub-Mediterranean climate of the Adige Valley. It gives superb panorama views out over the Venosta valley, the Merano basin and the Passiria valley as well as the Sarentine Alps and those of the Stubai and the Ötzi valley.
