Getting Into Subsea

We know that new and emerging territories are an area of interest for our members and to that end we are looking to help companies exploit these markets.
“Getting into Subsea” draws together service-leavers, graduates, school children and anyone else with an interest in pursuing a career in this dynamic industry. A study last year of our own members indicated that there was a shortfall of 10,000 workers and Subsea Target looks to work with job seekers and employers to stem that gap. Through our recent partnership with the skills, training and standards organisation OPITO, Subsea Expo will see a half day Energise Your Future event. The initiative brings together companies within the industry to showcase the breadth of careers on offer and the various entry routes available. Aimed specifically at schoolchildren, the interactive activities enable pupils to relate what they are learning in school to the world of work. A talented and enthusiastic workforce remains one of our key assets and Energising Your Future gives pupils the chance to see the range of opportunities within the industry, thereby making a lasting impression on their future career choices and ensuring our industry remains buoyant into the decades ahead.
Through our continued partnership with UKTI, members will be able to hear the latest about global opportunities on Wednesday afternoon and undertake one-to-one appointments on Thursday 6th February. With visitors on inward missions from key markets such as Brazil, Australia and West Africa, those looking to expand their business horizons will be fully supported. Now worth almost £9 billion and employing around 60,000 people, the UK sector continues to lead the way around the world thanks to its experience, expertise, technology and skills. We will continue to develop the strong reputation we have established over the previous decade, and will set the agenda for the future direction of the industry.
