Panchaanga Sravanam – hearing of the Hindu Almanac for the year- is a traditional observance on this day. People offer pooja, Bhajan, fast on this day as this is the celebration of victory of good over evil. 4. 31st march 2018 (Saturday) - Chaitra Purnima, Hanuman Jayanti:


As per Hindu mythology, Hanuman took birth on Chaitra Purnima with an objective to serve Lord Ram throughout his life. And it is believed that he used to apply vermilion (sindoor) all over his body for long life of Lord Ram. As a result of his selfless dedication and devotion for Ram, Hanuman was blessed with divine power to perform daring enactments. Therefore, on Chaitra Purnima day, devotees gather at temples to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti. They offer pooja with specific flowers, fruits and sweets and apply sindoor to their foreheads from Hanuman’s idol. Devotees perform meditation and observe fast on Hanuman Jayanti. Hanuman Chalisa is read in groups.
