BCBGMAXAZRIA Fall/Winter 2010
EDITOR’S NOTE I’ve always thought of runway as a peculiar way to showcase art. On a very grand scale (or a very small scale) it’s highly unconventional. Individuals wrap themselves in another human being’s contributions to society, and showcase it to the world we all strive to impress today, yesterday and tomorrow. Perhaps that’s why I enjoy fashion so much. Every season, designers display their works of art to a fantastic form of hierarchy with every intention of breaking molds that they themselves once composed. Fashion has never been about what is normal – it’s about what is unconventional. Designers, editors, models, photographers… artists of all walks, are drawn to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week because it is the hub of what is ‘outside the box’. Whether you’re sitting at the latest Herve Leger presentation, or celebrating spectacle and color with Betsey Johnson – you’re unconventional. It is for this reason that Style Republic Magazine.com is proud to announce the launch of our first Digital Daily. Style Republic Magazine is bringing all of our readers to the tents, the after parties, and straight to the runways – we’re taking you, ‘outside of the box’. Why? Well, because much like you, we’re unconventional. I vividly remember my first trip to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Everything from the celebrities and their fashion forward ensembles, to the production teams behind every spectacle giving the final nod signaling for the plastic to be stripped from the runway, the lights to go down, and for the show to begin. Aside from the child-like fascination I had with all of the sparkling gowns and chiffon constructions, I remember that I simply couldn’t wait to show people what I was experiencing. Watching the show was only a snippet of the journey. Getting to my destination, interacting with the designers, and watching artists perform at star studded after parties was as much of the experience as the many runway spectacles. The Digital Daily is all about bringing multiple aspects of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week together – and in turn, bringing the exclusive chain of events to our own audience.
I am so passionate about sharing the entire experience. As you flip through the pages of our Digital Daily, you’ll find interviews with various designer icons, photographs from exclusive parties, runway coverage, celebrity fashion highlights, highlight and so much more. I hope you enjoy the experience that is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just as much as I do. After all - I am taking you with me. The Digital Daily will be updated every evening at 12:00 PM EST, so be sure to check back for the latest happenings.

BCBGMAXAZRIA BCBG MAXAZRIA BCBGMAXAZRIA took to the runway this season with a ‘bohemian chic’ inspired collection. More pratical than previous collections, Max & Lubov Azria tie this presentation together with various silks, black knit tops, waist belts and a variety of layered lightweight pieces. The Azrias complemented a few of the looks with an occassional apperance from sequins and sheer accents. What we loved the most? As the models made their way down the runway, every look contained something that we considered to be a, ‘must-have’.

Biszantz, Giovanni Bianchi, Jennifer Esposito & Maggie Rizer. When it comes to loving luxuriously, La Perla’s Creative Director, Giovanni Bianchi, is an expert. Designing a classy line of intimates that consist of lace and unparalleled quality has kept women around the world raving for years. This season, Bianchi has captured the attention of actresses & socialites such as Amber Tamblyn, Tinsley Mortimer, Margherita Missoni and Maggie Rizer.
“La Perla is forever setting the standard when it comes to fine lingerie. I can’t think of a single woman who wouldn’t love to be wrapped in the quality that is La Perla - it’s practically perfect!” -Brittany Law, L Editor in Chief, Style Republic Magazine.
Designer Nicole Miller is always one of our favorites to watch. This season, Miller took a rougher edge to the runway with a series of notable pieces - legwarmers, knit caps, and nota heavy leather coats. The short, dark dresses were all too appealing when layered with so many fabulous Fall accessories. The composition of a trench-like coat over cashmere and wool has made our runway hot list this season.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Nicole Miller’s runway collections. The pieces are creative, fun - yet practical. I always come out of her shows with my upcoming season’s wardrobe in mind!” -Brittany Law, Editor in Chief.
Designer Charlotte Ronson has mastered the art of being ‘effortlessly chic’ this season. The pieces manage to touch on both a boho & ladylike appearance. Ronson’s collection is reminiscent of the 70’s art scene - long pleated skirts, shiny accents & loose fitting pants tied together with chic outerwear define this catwalk.
Charlotte Ronson, F/W 2010 “I adore Charlotte Ronson’s designs. Layers are a huge player in the upcoming Fall/Winter seasons, and her collection pulls the trend together beautifully.” -Brittany Law, Editor in Chief
DKNY Fall/Winter 2010
We sit down with designer Donna Karan just weeks before the unveiling of her upcoming Fall/Winter 2010 collections. From questions about, 'making it' in the design industry, to highlighting her current inspirations & top wardrobe must-haves - we wanted to know what drives Donna Karan the person, and Donna Karan the brand.
Who better to describe the collections than the designer herself ?
DIESEL BLACK GOLD Fall 2010
When it comes to mastering a rockstar worthy runway - Diesel puts on such a presentation. With a rough edge and sexy atmosphere, this anticipated catwalk was indeed, golden.
“I have always loved the energy backstage during Fashion Week. It’s crazy beyond belief, but so exciting at the same time,” -Brittany Law, Editor in Chief
