had the opportunity to develop my skills as a hairdresser and manager. The support and on-going training are limitless. I have also had the opportunity to work in some of the international branches, I have spent a year in Bahrain in the middle east and Lausanne in Switzerland where I took part in photoshoots and onstage presentation work alongside helping to establish a strong clientele. Since returning to Cardiff I have regained all my loyal clientele, some of which I have been colouring since I first started in 2003. In 2019 John and Sue had approached me with an idea, explaining that they would like to retire soon. I was thrilled and honoured to be given the opportunity to take my next steps in my hairdressing career and become the salon owner. I have been enrolled in management and leadership courses through Toni & Guy and Business Wales who have been fantastic with guiding me through the buyout, assisting me with my business plan and advising me on finance options. I cannot thank them enough. Then the pandemic hit, all plans were put on hold and contracts suspended. After the numerous lockdowns and thanks to the
patience and support of John and Sue, I completed the Salon buyout in October 2021. The hard work now begins, but with the support of the fantastic team (some of whom have been with the salon 25 years) it has been a dream come true. Toni & Guy is constantly evolving, recently we have introduced our booking office where clients can phone at times even outside of our usual opening hours from 7am – 8pm 7 days a week. This runs alongside our new website and our booking app; clients can book in just 2 clicks 24 hours a day. This year we are also revamping our product line Label-M to include more sustainable ingredients and packaging with improved user experience, by scanning our packaging you’ll have access to digital content and how-to videos to use and create our signature looks using these products. We are also updating our service menu and our service offerings. In our new signature service menu, we will be moving towards a more inclusive approach by removing the labels “ladies” and “gents” from our services. We currently offer a wide range of services in addition to the signature cut and blow dry. These include the

very popular keratin smoothing treatment where clients can achieve silky smooth hair for up to 5 months and the Wellaplex bonding treatment which is fantastic for repairing broken damaged hair from the overuse of bleach or heat styling. Our product house Label-M also offers four fantastic snapshot treatments which you can add onto your cut or colour appointment. These include volume boost, colour revive, damage control and scalp soothing lotion. This year we are also looking to introduce a hair extension service and potentially a nail bar. There is a lot of work going on Churchill way at the moment with the development of the Canal Quarter, new bars, sandwich places, hotels planned nearby and the redevelopment Capital Centre. All of this along with the new re-vamps in our Salon and our Label-M line make for a very exciting few months ahead and we look forward to taking you all along the journey with us.
