Omeros Bros...

With over 30 years experience in presenting diners with the freshest possible 'fruits of the sea' matched by impeccable service, a fine wine list, and a superb location overlooking the beautiful Broadwater and marina full of million-dollar-plus boats and watercraft, it is no wonder that Omeros Bros Restaurant has achieved a multitude of awards and accolades. This is a long-standing family business, that continues to win accolades. At the helm and usually in the kitchen, is John Omeros continuing the family tradition with the support of his father Nick Omeros, and an integral part of the team, restaurant manager Robert Rank, who was first employed by Angelo Omeros and Nick Omeros at the original Paragon Seafood Restaurant at Burleigh Heads all those years ago. Robert and John are almost always on-hand to welcome longtime and new diners, and as most of the staff have been at the restaurant for many years, that personal touch and attention to detail ensure diners a special dining experience. The restaurant's modern design is chic and expansive, featuring a lounge area at the entrance for diners to gather prior to seating, and an adjacent large welcoming bar where cocktails are prepared with aplomb. Many diners tend to turn up early for their booking and catch up for a few cocktails or a glass of wine and conversation before dining. The dining area itself sits on several levels, with diners offered inside, terrace and lower deck dining options, and with the large expansive windows and glass partitions all tables are afforded fabulous Gold Coast water views. With the local fishing fleet berthed not 300 metres from the restaurants lower deck dining area, you could almost imagine the

fisherman swinging their day's catch over the side of the wharf and directly into the arms of the restaurants waiting chefs, to be treated with the respect and simple cooking techniques that it deserves. Of course, the most important part of any dining experience is the menu - and here is where the iconic status of the restaurant becomes apparent. With a name synonymous with fabulous seafood - that is exactly what you will find. A menu full of oysters (the boys do love their Sydney Rock), black mussels, king prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, lobsters and mud crabs from the live tanks, salmon, fresh fish from the day's catch, baby octopus and calamari. Of course their are superb dishes for those wanting a large tender fillet steak, perfectly cooked pasta or salad. The menu may change to include new dishes, but the signature dishes that have become favourites with visiting international stars, politicians and savvy diners the world over, will always be there. The seafood chowder, rich, creamy and full of luscious seafood; the 'original' grilled schnapper - perfectly cooked and presented with a lemon butter sauce (the dish favoured by longtime diehard diners); the fresh grilled lobster with drawn butter; the spectacular seafood platter for one (or more) which should come with a medal if you finish. The only recent change to this dish is that instead of perching atop a metal stand it now comes on a long white platter, and is much easier to see all the elements, including three styles of oysters, mornay, kilpatrick and natural, accompanied by large juicy prawn cutlets, barbecued prawns, Moreton Bay bug, grilled baby octopus, lightly battered sea scallops, calamari, tender crumbed fish portions, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, and complementing sauces. A meal fit for a King or Queen. I can't wait to dine there again. Soon! Lower level waterfront, Marina Mirage Open lunch and dinner daily. PH: 07 5591 7222 www.omerosbros.com
