The future of golf is here!
Dear Junior Golfers and Parents: The York County Junior Golf Association (YCJGA) offers a summer program for players who can shoot respectable 18-hole scores and complete a round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. The girls play from the red tees. The 14 & under boys play from the white tees and the 15-18 year old boys play either white or blue tees, depending on their experience and scores. We now have nine-hole red tee events for the 14&under boys and girls. The program is fun, yet competitive. All PIAA State qualifiers, boys and girls, from the area for the last seven years have come from our program. Players are chosen to represent York in the Junior War of the Roses, a Ryder Cup style event pitting 12 juniors against the best in Lancaster County. The top 16 boys and top 8 girls can play in the end of the year George Barton Match Play Championships at Grandview GC. A player planning to be a high school golfer in the area should seriously consider playing in the tour events. The players like playing with one another as well as against one another. Mr. Shane Stell returns as the tour director. The YCJGA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a working board of directors. We have an endowment fund with the York County Community Foundation to ensure the future of junior golf in the area. Volunteers are always needed and welcome! We ask all golfers to have a parent, relative or family friend sign up to volunteer for at least one event. The YCJGA is looking forward to another great summer of golf, and wish all of our junior golfers a safe and enjoyable season. Sincerely, The YCJGA Board of Directors Stephen J. Whiteley - President
