Sound Matters With John Du Four PART 8 Vibration and its role in healing Discussing drones in the last issue I briefly mentioned how, in a therapeutic setting, they can serve to concentrate sonic frequencies to enable specific sound waves to be directed into areas of the human body. For my final piece in this current series of articles I’d like to expand on sound used in this manner for sound healing, as one particular aspect of the complementary healing modality known as vibrational medicine. We’ve previously noted that all sound is vibration, the speed of that vibration is called frequency and that music is created when the frequency waveform is strongly regular. It’s visually similar to the flicking of one end of a skipping rope up and down to make regular waves along its length. Smaller quicker waves equate to a higher pitch of music, while larger slower ones constitute a lower pitch. I also quoted the great Albert Einstein himself in the very first of my pieces when he said we are “a walking bundle of frequencies.” Inventor and engineer hotshot Nikola Tesla was also on the same wavelength (ah, the fun of a pun!), stating: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” These intelligent groundbreaking gentlemen understood unequivocally what modern physics has now borne out, namely that there is no real solidity in the universe, and that any form that appears is actually created by underlying vibrations. Allow me to labour this point with the following mind-blowing excerpt from Engineering Journalist Trevor English’s piece, ‘You’re Almost Completely Made Up of Empty Space’, from Curiosity. Com, who explains it as follows: “Matter isn't really solid when you actually take a close look at it. Everything around us is made up of atoms, tiny particles composed of a nucleus orbited by electrons. These tiny particles are filled with energy, but they have quite a bit of empty space. In fact, 99.9999999 percent of 88

all of the matter around us is empty space. That means if you took the empty space out of every human on earth, you could compress the entire human population down to an object smaller than a sugar cube.” He continues: “Atoms aren't stagnant particles, they're filled with energy and surrounded by electrons constantly buzzing around in a sort of cloud. No two electrons can exist in the same space at the same time.” So why does everything feel solid? Well, here’s where it gets even crazier, as English neatly reveals: “When you inevitably type a comment about how blown away you are about the facts you learned in this article, your fingertips aren't actually touching the keyboard. What you're feeling and interpreting as touch is actually just the electromagnetic force from the electrons in your atoms pushing back against the electrons in your keyboard's atoms". “Extrapolated out, this means that you’ve never actually touched anything in your life. You’re actually floating just above the chair you’re sitting on thanks to incredibly small electromagnetic forces. Quantum mechanics and the interactions of subatomic particles make the seemingly average events of everyday life pretty extraordinary.” Pretty extraordinary has to be one of the greatest understatements I’ve ever come across. It’s the physics of these subtle energy fields that is utilised in vibrational medicine, where the healing is based on the idea of resonant frequencies. This is similar to when a tuned string on a musical instrument resonates with anything tuned to the same frequency, or an opera singer dramatically smashes a glass by singing at a certain pitch. In other words, resonance occurs when one object vibrating at the same natural frequency of a second object forces that second object into vibrational motion. Given everything on earth has its own inherent frequencies, this also includes the various collections of cells that constitute our bodies and the organs within them.
