hello dear reader!
Ihopethisfindsyouandyourlovedonesdoingwell.
I also hope you have had a great Mardi Gras! Now that the dust have settled, we gobacktonormallives
ThismonthIhavedecidedtotackleaverybroadandcomplextopic:color Welove some,andwehateothers,butlet'sadmitwecannotlivewithoutit.IknowIcan't.
As you will read in the featuring article, color affects each of us differently But there is an overall assumption of how it influences our moods and emotions For instance, if you live in an area that lacks trees and greenery, paint walls or use fabrics in shades of green as well as plants in your home to bring that soothing feel the green leaves of trees would bring you Also, did you know Seattle has been considered the saddest large metro area in the US? Mostly during the gloomy winter months A lot of people get depressed during that time On top of that, itrainsalotthere, thuslackingblueskiesandsunnydays. Sunshine (yellow) isvitaltoourstateofmind

This goes to show the overall importance of color in our lives Not only at home but,alsoinnature.Colorisessentialtoourwell-being.

The Psychology of Color at Home -
Part I
Acolor palette can make or break the design of a room It can and will affect the mood of those who liveinit. It has been scientifically proven that color can evoke different feelings and emotions, thus affecting our psyche. In general, cool tones such as green, blue, and purpletendtoevokerelaxation, andwarmtones such as red, yellow, and orange make people feelenergized
Whetheryourroomorhomehasasoothingcolor palette or a bold one, let’s see how the colors in themmayaffectyou
White: I usually call it the perfect backdrop for anycolor Itislikeacanvaswhereyoucancreate any palette It certainly makes any room feel larger and is known for fostering elegance, reducing tension and promoting tranquility. It goeswelleverywhereinahome.
Black:Ilovetheideaofatotallyblackroom, orin accentssuchasfurnitureandcabinetry Itbrings drama, mystery, and sophistication to a room It is perfect for the walls of a home-theater, powder room, or library Black promotes elegance, beauty, andefficiency.
Gray:Therearemorethanfiftyshadesofit While calming for some and depressing for others the right undertone (cool or warm), paired with vibrant tones, bring balance to the space Consideritforanywhereinyourhome
Blue: This is one of my favorites and is to most people This color has many health benefits It is known to be calming and relaxing, slowing metabolism, reducing blood pressure, hypertension and improving overall mental health Itisknowntoevoketranquility, wisdom, and prosperity Blue is the ideal color for a bedroom but, consider it for a dining room, playroom, bathroom, orkitchen
Green: A very versatile color associated with nature, it’s one that stimulates growth and promotes balance and fertility Although different shades of green will elicit different emotions, its overall feeling is of tranquility While a light green wall promotes a calm feeling, a dark one is associated with money and prosperity Consider it for a kitchen, study, powderroom, sunroomandbedroom
Purple: This color is well known for its association with royalty, and it is a versatile color, as well While dark purple promotes luxury, a lighter tone such as lavender evokes relaxation Consider it for a bedroom, study, homeoffice
It is a given that no color will have the same effect on everyone; I hope this information gives you a deeper understanding of color and itsadvantages ColorisaspecialtoolthatI use to create spaces with my clients’ tastes and bestinterestsatheart

KatRyalls
“I create because I am compelled to - it has been the tilt of my life since I was a child, though back then it was an experience in working with what was around me - arranging leaves and twigs, collecting and observing rocks, feathers, shells, and fabric scraps. I create art with a focus on the process while responding to and revealing the different ways I experience the world around me It encompasses the thoughts in my head, the emotions I experience, and the places I love to visit and explore.”
