by green spathes and have six equal tepals that are 19–24 mm long. This species is characterised by an exceptional style that is divided into 6 threadlike branches. It occurs in varying habitats, mostly dry sites, from Namaqualand to Humansdorp.

A yellow or salmon-flowered Moraea with its stem flexed outward above the leaf sheath and corm with a tunic of black wiry fibres. It has a single, linear, channelled leaf that is trailing above. The flowers are enclosed in a green spathe and the tepals are unequal in length, 25–35 mm long. A species predominately found in clay soils from Ceres to Caledon.

Fairly common in coastal dune soils on Grootbos, M. miniata has salmon flowers that are minutely speckled in the centre and enclosed in a sticky spathe. The corm is covered with a tunic of black fibres. It has two or three linear, channelled, trailing leaves. This species is usually found on clay slopes from Namaqualand to Riverdale and the Karoo.

A small plant with corms of 5–15 mm in diameter that have brown to black tunics. It has between 2–4 linear leaves, with slightly ciliate margins, that are up to 7 mm wide and occasionally longer than the flowering stem. The stem is lightly hairy, 1–2 internodes long and up to 5-branched, mainly from the base but sometimes also from the upper node. The sweetlyscented flowers are salmon pink or pale yellow, with yellow nectar guides on the outer tepals outlined in yellow, green or red. It grows from the Cederberg Mountains to Bredasdorp on a variety of soils from poorly-drained sands to seasonally damp clays.

A species that only flowers in the late summer within weeks of a fire. On Grootbos we only recorded this species in the month after the February 2006 fire and have not seen it since. It has pale yellow flowers, enclosed in green spathes. Its stem flexes outward above the leaf sheath. It has a single, linear, channelled, spine-tipped rigid leaf inserted high up on the stem. The corm is covered in a tunic of wiry, black fibres. It occurs on sandstone slopes between Piketberg and Bredasdorp.
