The UND Television Center offers video production services to help promote organizations. We produce the award-winning television show Studio One and UND’s welcome program, U-View. We also develop customized video projects to meet your digital media needs.


Studio One Underwriting

What you get: 30-second video promo during the award-winning television show Studio One Reach: 16 markets across the Midwest including, Denver, Colo., Minneapolis, Minn., southern Manitoba & online mediums Studio One is an one-hour live television show produced at the University of North Dakota’s Television Center. The program debuted in the spring of 1987. The format is similar to NBC’s Today Show or ABC’s Good Morning America. Students produce news, weather, sports and entertainment segments. They also interview guests ranging from local experts to international celebrities. Underwriters provide the financial support needed to produce the show and help give students exceptional handson experience. Underwriters receive promotional spots on Studio One telecasts, webcasts, and podcasts. Underwriters are also listed on the Studio One website. This shows that the Studio One channel had 22, 345 views in the past year (May 13, 2011 - May 14, 2012)

Underwriters also receive a four-second billboard on the beginning of videos. This promotes underwriters with every social media share. The video example on the left has more than 2,000 views.

Studio One Closed Captioning

Closed Captioning support allows us to add a caption signal to our show. The FCC says that Closed Captioning, “provides a critical link to news, entertainment and other televised information for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.”

CC package includes: 1,000 announcements on the show in all of our markets across the Midwest and southern Manitoba. One announcement will air on each Studio One show during our fall and spring telecasts. A 10-second voice-over with your logo is used before or after a break in the show. Ex. “Closed Captioning for Studio One is underwritten in part by...” 10,000 Billboard Appearances on Channel 3 The message will be similar to the announcement above and will include your organization’s logo and telephone number. Your billboard will run on Grand Forks Channel 3 approximately 50 times per day.

Studio set-up

The Television Center offers a variety of set-ups to help customize your project. We have a studio for formal interview projects.

On site

The experienced Television Center staff can shoot video for your project at a variety of locations. We can travel to accommodate video requirements.

Documentaries

We’ve put together documentaries, that feature the history of UND and the region.

Channel 3 & 98.1 Billboards

What you get: More than 10,000 electronic billboard slides yearly 10- second slides - 50 times a day Reach: Grand Forks and UND Residence Halls A client can place any information regarding their event (Who, What, Where, When and Why) they feel is necessary. Clients must be non-profit and cannot include prices or sponsors. We work to make sure ads are designed specifically to meet client needs.

* This price covers multiple ads running (no more than 3 at a time) and editing of those ads for a  one‐year time frame to start after payment.

Please note: This is NOT price per ad, this covers the client for the entire year. Clients can have multiple ads running (no more than 3 at a time) and can make changes to their ad every month. Ad rotation on Channel 3/RLC 98.1: Ad will be up for 10 seconds and have approximately 50 plays a day and more depending on television programming for that specific day. Differences in coverage areas: Channel 3 is on the Grand Forks Midcontinent cable channel lineup, which is shown in Grand Forks, N.D. and East Grand Forks, Minn. - approximately 60,000 people. RLC (Channel 98.1) is strictly in the residence halls.

The Production Process 1) The concept One of the most important aspects of video production is to grab the viewer’s attention. The trained staff at the Television Center help determine how to define your services and engage an audience. This is done through meetings and interviews with someone from your program or department and a Television Center staff member. 2) Shoot and edit The Television Center shoots all promotions in High Definition. Television Center staff members shoot and edit video to meet industry standards.

3) Presentation and review Television Center staff will produce the story board, choose music and edit the promo and then present it for review. The finished video is completed while keeping clients informed during the process. 4) Reach new, returning and potential students or clients Studio One and U-View play on Cable Channels 3 and 98.1. These channels are viewed in the residence halls and in the Grand Forks community. In addition, Studio One is played across the Midwest and in southern Manitoba. Our program helps you promote your program or organization to a dynamic range of potential students or clients.
