A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUCCESS:
DARIAN BURWELL Your first year at Gallaudet can be great and sometimes overwhelming. We have a dedicated team of peer mentors who are excited about meeting you in your GSR 101 class. They will have office hours and be available to confide in and study with.
Never be afraid to ask questions. Our goal is to make sure you all are comfortable and making a positive transition into a university community! Welcome to Gallaudet!
WHAT DOES OUR PEER MENTORSHIP
- Provides students with access to academic services
PROGRAM OFFER TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS?
- Mentors will be coteaching with the GSR 101 Instructors - Promotes students to receive tutoring for academics
- Supports students to improve American Sign Language skills - Provides one-onone mentorship services from their peers
- Offers adventurous trips around Washington, D.C. - Most importantly, our mentors will make sure students are feeling right at HOME at Gallaudet University!

I am looking forward to meeting all of you throughout the year. Student Success is driven to retain students by providing opportunities and guidance for students to ENGAGE as contributing members of Gallaudet University and to LEARN the academic and social skills necessary to SUCCEED in a diverse community and a
global society. We have a wonderful group of Peer Mentors who will make sure that you will be comfortable here at Gallaudet!
