ILK WATER FEATURE’S

+ TYPE: Documenta on for fabrica on + COMPLETION: Built + SCOPE: Water wall and pond

The Ilk water feature is part of a landscape designed by DCG design. The water feature and pond had to be designed with important a en on to levels and water flow so the two ponds would func on in unison. The angled water walls were hung on a bracket system which involved careful calcula on of angles and sizes to create overall aesthe c eect.

The water feature was documented in both CAD and in Solidworks as required by the fabricator and client.

I have been commissioned by the town of Newstead to streamline several visions into a single space to create an integrated ac vity area. The approved design features a performance space imbedded into a BMX park which. A bouldering wall doubles as a planted sound wall to minimize noise to neighbouring property. An agility park similar to Chinese exercise playgrounds is included near the park to integrate older and younger members of the community and for the general fitness of the community.

The space will be included in the Newstead Ac vity Zone which incorporates mainstream sports. The performance space is available to the en re community through the Ac vity Zone which, incorporates the neighbouring football and netball clubs.

BRUNSWICK BOULDERING PLAZA

I was commissioned by The City of Moreland to create a feasibility study which, inves gated how bouldering could be incorporated into the suburb of Brunswick. The study looked at exis ng sites with poten al to house a bouldering wall or freestanding boulders in small pocket parks which, create a circuit. Part of the study included demonstra ng movement and safety aspects of the ac vity.

+ TYPE: feasibility study/ compe on winner + COMPLETION: 2015 + SCOPE: Integrated Bouldering Plaza

The idea of using bouldering to ac vate space was tested via a compe on held by the Department of Jus ce. The brief being to create urban spaces which, lower low level crime. The successful bid shows a bouldering wall combined with ea ng, si ng and tree space. I am now involved in the final design of the space with Moreland Council Urban design.

Ar st Marco Magliac was invited to submit an idea to renovate a 5 story staircase in Melbourne’s Hardware Lane in conjunc on with the renova on of the en re building.

I built the staircase in 3D then applied the ar sts work via texture maps so both the client and the ar st could visualize the final concept.

MKD was asked to submit a proposal for a 40M stretch of bush land in Mt Russel to connect a 45 km mountain bike trail which, is part of the interna onally recognized EPIC classed trails.

I was employed by Radwall Australasia to co design and document a 37 rope extension to a Brisbane climbing gym. I worked closely with fabricator Mark Buchanan on the design and translated the 3D concept into steel take os and finally construc on drawings.

A central arch was created to allow visual penetra on through the new central island crea ng interes ng vista’s and climbable form.

INTEGRATED BOULDERING PLAZA, DOCKLANDS MELBOURNE + TYPE: Specula ve + SCOPE: Urban sport and recrea on As part of my Masters in landscape Architecture I inves gated the poten al of climbable form to create amenity on an exposed pier surrounded by water. The design inves gated the poten al of open and closed icosahedron pa erns to create form where mul ple programs such as bouldering, shelter, play and si ng could be achieved. The layout is inspired by bouldering in the Grampians Na onal Park where much of the day can be spent walking around inves ga ng and climbing form. The

seriality of the form creates ever changing vistas as well as opportuni es for sanc oned and unsanc oned inhabita on.

INTEGRATED BOULDERING PARK, DOCKLANDS MELBOURNE + TYPE: Specula ve + SCOPE: Urban sport and recrea on The second itera on moves away from the environment and looks at responds more literally to the contextual programs. This design responds to the dense typology in which, we live today. It looks at the idea of stacking program in the landscape similar to what is found in high rise developments. This stacking creates economy of space and material to create a concentrated but semi private social environment.

The design goes beyond the climbable surface and inves gates the approach and des na on as much as the journey by providing ac ve amenity at both ends. The space is designed to be inter genera onal providing amenity for all ages in and around the event and ac vity of climbing and provides a unique solu on for providing mul ple programs in one space.

The combina on of a playground and a lawn perched on a climbable surface allows people to inhabit the ver cal space which is usually a physical void without specific program in most landscape.
