What is the DISC Model of human behaviour? The DISC Model of Human Behaviour describes the four basic behaviour types: D - Dominance I – Influence S - Steadiness C - Conscientiousness Every person demonstrates a unique mix of all the four types. No type is better than the other. A person can move from one type to the other during the day based on the situation. However, people tend to exhibit one style over the other as they are different by different priorities. DiSC is a model of human behaviour that helps us understand “why they do what they do.” The dimensions of Dominance, influence, steadiness, and conscientiousness make up the DiSC model and interact with other factors to describe human behaviour.

+91 80 88 877 877 William M. Marston developed the DISC model of human behaviour in early nineties. Marston's theory states that four patterns of behaviour emerge as a result of various combinations of certain key factors as in the environment and how it is perceived differently. As per the DISC Model of human behaviour , most people tend to be either task-oriented or people-oriented. Another way to describe people is by their response to the environment. Some people are assertive or active; they want to shape or change their environment to better suit themselves. Others are more responsive; they tend to be more accepting do the best job possible within their environment. Using these four factors: task vs. people, assertive vs. responsive, we can place people into one of four quadrants.DISC Model of human behaviour demystifies how people are driven differently. Dominance (Dominant): The drive to control, to achieve results. They want to get things done. Influence (Influential): The drive to influence and to be expressive. The basic intent is to get recognition. Steadiness (Steadiness): The drive to be stable and supportive. The basic intent is to get along. Conscientiousness (Conscientiousness): They strive to perfect things. The basic intent is to do it right.
