swimming Continued One-on-fun swimming lessons For all ages and levels! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want customized swim instruction or swimmers who have taken lessons before but need to practice a few skills to complete a level. Choose multiple one-on-fun sessions (a four lesson set with the same instructor), or take a single one-on-fun swimming lesson. Multiple one-on-fun lesson spots can be viewed on line at www.strathcona.ca/recreation or call the Kinsmen Leisure Centre at 464-2112 for available times.

Outdoor fun for youth

Spring active day

Calling all teens interested in the outdoors, leadership and fun! Over the two days you will have a blast doing cooperative games, orienteering, team builidng and learning cool camping skills (firelighting, shelter building, camp cooking). We know you will have so much fun that you will register in our summer day camps and Junior Outdoor Leadership program.

Join the SWC staff for a fun day of outdoor programs - especially designed for ages 8 - 16. Bring a picnic lunch (hot dogs or a bag lunch), a change of clothing, your running shoes and a smile. Programs include orienteering, lunch around a camp fire, cooperative games and predator prey.

Performing Arts Stepping on stage Get a taste of the performing arts this spring! A choreographer will teach a variety of dance types, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and funk. A drama instructor will teach basic theatre skills though mime, skits, and improv games. All students will gain basic theatre skills and the ability to perform an array of dance steps. Costumes, props, and sets will be used to enhance the final performance at 4:00pm on Thursday. The art of puppetry In one day children will create several puppets and bring them to life, all captured on film! Children will be guided by an art instructor from Gallery@501 to make their puppets in the morning, and they will create their puppet show in the afternoon with a drama/puppeteer instructor from Festival Place. Both displays created will stay up for several weeks, and may be filmed or photographed. A great chance to go behind the scenes at both cultural centres! All supplies included. Art projects are adjusted to suit each age level, and fun activities and games are paired with the art to engage and inspire kids. Themes and projects change each time, so each program is unique!
