Comment on Josephburg draft recreation master plan

The draft Community Recreation Master Plan for Josephburg is now available for public comment. The master plan will guide the long-term planning, design and development of all public recreation spaces and facilities within the hamlet. Road construction in the north

Road construction will take place on Township Road 554 from Range Road 214 to approximately 500 metres west (includes intersection upgrades on Range Road 214). This work will be completed before the end of July, weather permitting. Expect disruptions and proceed with caution. Volunteers are needed to assist seniors with lawn mowing. Residents are encouraged to sign up as individuals, families, teams or groups. Try disc golf in the wilderness

Disc golf is a new activity available at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. Similar to regular golf, players use a disc and aim for target baskets. This summer activity is included in the Millennium Card, or you can rent a disc for $3.25 each. • 780-922-3939

Savour Strathcona County: Spotlight on Herbs

Savour gourmet dishes made with fresh ingredients by chefs from County restaurants. “Taste tickets” are available five for $5 – in advance by calling 780-464-8095, and also onsite. The event takes place on July 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Centre Agora; it coincides with Art in the Plaza, a celebration of local arts and crafts, and heritage games. • 780-464-8095

Art in the Plaza on Sundays this summer It’s a destination every Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Centre in Sherwood Park. This summer-long series features local art and artists, walking tours and original works for sale. If you are an artist, call us to arrange to share your art. Take a shuttle to special events Edmonton Indy, July 20 to 22. Shuttle is $8 return or $5 one-way cash fare. Advance tickets will be available from the Sherwood Park Transit Centre in early July. Daily tickets will also be available on the day of the event. No commuter tickets or passes accepted. Heritage Day Festival at Hawrelak Park, August 4 to 6.
