Gospel: Matthew 17:1-9 Wishing to reveal His glory to Peter, James and John, Jesus takes them to a mountain where he is transfigured before them. When Peter exclaims that he will build three tabernacles here in honor of Jesus, Moses and Elijah, a voice from above proclaims: “This is My beloved Son on whom My favor rests. Listen to him.” ©1998 Bon Venture Services, Inc. READINGS FOR THE WEEKND OF MARCH 23 First Reading: Exodus 17:3-7 Second Reading: Romans 5:1-2, 5-8 Gospel: John 4:5-42

The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal helps provide the critical funding needed to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, counsel those in despair, offer much-needed assistance to the unemployed, and make medical care available to those without health insurance. Your gift to the 2014 Appeal will help to continue these and other vital ministries, services, and programs that reach out to so many in need.

MASS OF HEALING & HOPE… Will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30 pm at the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary, with rosary at 6:55 pm. Presider: Rev. Mike Galasso. Trained prayer teams available after Mass.  A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE  Transfiguration is a common occurrence in families. When we commit to another, such as a spouse in marriage or a child in parenting, we are not committing to them only as they are today, but to the person they are becoming.

“LEAVING LIGHTS ON FOR YOU” LENTEN CONFESSIONS If you have gotten caught up in the busyness of life and have fallen away from the Sacrament of Reconciliation, you can change that. Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield. May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in You. Psalm 33:20-22 In today’s Gospel, an amazing thing happens to Jesus. Jesus goes up a mountain with three of his friends - Peter, James, and John - and His face became bright and his clothes became white. Moses and Elijah, are also seen with Jesus. They lived before Jesus, and everyone respected them because they had been strong and had always obeyed God. Then God says something very important about Jesus. “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.” The change in the way Jesus looked was called the Transfiguration. During this Season of Lent, let us pray that we will recognize Jesus as God's Son in our lives and listen to Him as God told us.
