Welcome To Our Parish Family! Parish Membership Through baptism we become God’s sons and daughters, and brother and sisters of each other in Christ. Every family in the parish should be properly registered and each family should receive a set of envelopes. New parishioners should register at the Parish Office. Single adults over 21 years of age should register separately from parents. This registration is our only means of certifying anyone as a member of our parish family.

TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: 1 Kings 17:17-24 The child of the mistress of the house where Elijah sojourned became ill and died. The woman pleaded with Elijah who took the son and prayed over him. When the child revived Elijah returned him to his mother who recognized Elijah as "a man of God." Second Reading: Galatians 1:11-19 Paul proclaims the gospel, not as human, but coming from the revelation of Jesus Christ. Paul continues to acknowledge his own sinfulness and call to grace. Gospel: Luke 7:11-17 The gospel continues to recount the miracles and healing powers of Jesus. As Jesus neared the gates to the city of Nain, they came upon a deceased young man who was being carried out of the city. His mother, a widow, and a large crowd accompanying the body, met Jesus on the way. Compassionately, Jesus comforts the weeping mother and restores life to the dead man. ©2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc. READINGS FOR THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 16 First Reading: 2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13 Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, 19-21 Gospel: Luke 7:36-8:3

 A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE  The widow in today’s gospel was in deep trouble. Her husband and her only son were dead. In that male dominated society woman owned nothing and were totally dependent on men for their livelihood. She would be reduced to begging. Restoring her son to life, Jesus also restored the woman to life.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden because of their disobedience. But Jesus says in today’s Gospel that when we are obedient to God’s will – when we use our gifts to serve one another – we are part of His family. “Whoever does the will of God is brother and sister and mother to me.” This is the gift, and fruit, of Baptism. Faith Formation News Truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me, has eternal life. John 5:24

In today’s reading from the Gospel of Luke, Jesus demonstrates His power over death when He healed the widow’s son. God sent Jesus to bring love and kindness into the world by showing us how to care for one another. Jesus wants us to do what is good and loving wherever we go, too! Teaching our Faith ~ It’s what we are called to do! At the end of His earthly ministry, Jesus said: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." Please contact the CCD Office if you hear God calling you to share your faith with His children in our Faith Formation Ministry. Catechists are needed for weekly and monthly classes. Please contact us at for more information. It is a privilege to pass on to others your gift of faith and love for Christ by being a Catechist! We look forward to hearing from YOU soon! ST. true followers of Jesus Christ!

Our Confirmation Candidates were asked to Tell Us Why they chose to be confirmed adult members of the Church. They share their thoughts with our Pastor and Parish Family ~ and we welcome them as fully initiated members of the Church! Dear Fr. Leary and my Parish Family, I thank you for accepting me as a confirmed member of the Church. I have attended St. Peter Claver Church my whole life, took part in CCD classes, attended Mass, and volunteered at various church events. Being confirmed is very important to me because, as a teenager, I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help me make good decisions in my life. As a confirmed adult in the Catholic community, I will have Jesus and the Church to watch over me and to show me the right way to live my life. After my Confirmation, I will continue to volunteer my time in the Church and lead a life of faith. ~ Brett

PROTECTING GOD”S CHILDREN SAFETY PROGRAM All parishes must adhere to the U. S. Bishops’ requirements for a safe environment. The Faith Formation Office provides Child Lures Parent Guides for families to review at home with their child. This guide helps parents become aware of the ways children may be “lured” by people they know, or feel they can trust, as well as the influence and dangers of the internet. Child Lures Programs will be implemented at classes throughout the upcoming CCD year, but parents may request a Parent Guide at any time. Please contact the CCD Office for your Guide in order to keep children safe and protected throughout the summer months.
