First Reading: Ezekiel 17:22-24 God will restore the kingdom of Judah, as symbolized by the cedar. The deed is emphasized by the words, “As I, the Lord have spoken, so will I do.” Second Reading: II Corinthians 5:6-10 Paul acknowledges “that we are, in a sense, away from the Lord while in this life and bound to our bodies.” We will be fully united with God in the next life, if we please him in this life. Gospel: Mark 4:26-34 The reign of God is compared to a mustard seed which is the smallest of seeds yet grows to become the largest of shrubs. Similarly, God’s community grows gradually until it becomes large and strong. ©1999 Bon Venture Services, Inc. READINGS FOR THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 24 First Reading: Isaiah 49:1-6 Second Reading: Acts 13:22-26 Gospel: Luke 1:57-66, 80

A Father Is: There in every memory See his love and care Strength and hands to count on Freely he does share Provider, toil so faithfully To make our dreams come true Give strong and tender discipline Though it is hard to do A Father is God's chosen one To lead the family And point it to His will for life Of love and harmony... For everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the Good News!” Romans 10: 14-15

June 12, 2013 Dear Past, Present, and Prospective Catechists, Did you know that you have beautiful feet? When I read the above scripture passage this morning I immediately thought of YOU and all of the beautiful feet that bring the message of God’s Love to His children. How wonderful that you’ve answered the call to continue Christ’s work of building His Kingdom! You do this by serving others as Jesus taught us! To begin our teaching ministry this year I would like to introduce myself as the new Director of Religious Education at St. Peter Claver Church! I look forward to meeting you and I thank Father Leary, the Parish Staff and the entire Catechetical Team for the enthusiastic support for the faith development of our youth. It is with sincere gratitude that I accept the privilege of working with you and everyone involved in the faith formation ministry. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to get together with you as I begin preparations for the upcoming year of classes. This can only be done with your input and ideas. The Staff is planning a Catechists’ Gathering on Tuesday, June 19th at 7pm in the Church Hall. At that time I will be going over some possible scheduling ideas for all grade levels and I welcome your assistance in providing a quality faith formation program. Thanks so much for taking the time to meet with me and others involved in catechetical ministry. My prayer is that our feet always follow Jesus and that our faith guides others to His love and grace. May God bless you and your family with joyful spring and summer months! With Christ’s Peace, Angela Clement, Director of Religious Education
