ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: 2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13 Because God was displeased with the actions of David concerning Uriah's death in order to marry Bathsheba, God sent Nathan to reprimand David. Nathan reminds David that God anointed him King of Israel and victor over Saul. David realizes his sin against God, but Nathan continues to reveal to David that the child to be born to him shall die. Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, 19-21 Paul writes of the struggles between Gentiles and Jews who both now profess belief in Christ Jesus. Paul proclaims his life in Christ, working towards unity and faith in the Son of God. Gospel: Luke 7:36―8:3 While Jesus was dining at the home of a Pharisee, a woman of the city who was a sinner came and anointed his feet with oil. Weeping, her tears fell upon Jesus' feet and she dried them with her hair. Because of the woman's respect and love, Jesus forgives her sins. This causes those present at the table to question who he is. ©2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc. READINGS FOR THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 23 First Reading: Zechariah 12:10-11, 13:1 Second Reading: Galatians 3:26-29 Gospel: Luke 9:18-24

We are pleased to welcome the following new members who recently joined our Parish Community: Joseph & Dolores Kelliher; James & Christine Flynn; Brian & Kathleen Pencz; Joyce Szekeres; Michael & Kristen Fritz, son Michael Jr., daughter Lillian.

 A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE  Jesus sat down for a meal and was caught between the weeping woman and the indignant pharisee. Why is it tough issues always pop up at meals? No wonder we need antacids. Jesus focused on the positives, offering forgiveness to the woman and understanding to the pharisee.

BOTTLES FOR BABIES 2013 The Knights of Columbus at St. Peter Claver Church will be handing out bottles as part of their 4th Annual Bottles for Babies Charity Drive in support of St. Agnes Home. Bottles will be available after each Mass on the weekends of June 15 & 16 as well as June 22 & 23. St. Agnes Home is one of only two organizations in the state of Connecticut that provides a safe residential environment for young mothers and their babies. Their mission gives young mothers the opportunity to complete their education and learn invaluable parenting and life skills. The support that St. Peter Claver has given over the past 3 years has made a critical difference in St. Agnes Home and we hope to continue to help their mission. Thank you for your generous support.

Faith Formation News For you shall go out with Joy, and be led forth with Peace. Isaiah 55:12 Blessed are Those who Share the Love of the Lord! At the end of His earthly ministry, Jesus said: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." Please contact the CCD Office if you hear God calling you to share your faith with His children in our Faith Formation Ministry. Catechists are needed for weekly and monthly classes. Please contact us at spcreled@sbcglobal.net for more information. It is a privilege to pass on to others your gift of faith and love for Christ by being a Catechist! We look forward to hearing from YOU soon! God Loves A Cheerful Giver!

Thanks so much to all of our students who bring their offertory envelopes to Mass each week! It is wonderful to read all of the great gifts of time well spent - helping at home, doing good deeds, and growing in strong Christian character. It is also a blessing to see how these young parishioners work hard to develop their God-given talents for dance, sports, music, and school work. The best gifts listed are those that the children see as treasures in their lives - families, friends, and faith! We thank the children for their monetary gifts - and especially thank the parents for teaching their children the importance of worshipping God at Mass. We look forward to seeing our families throughout the summer months!

PROTECTING GOD”S CHILDREN SAFETY PROGRAM

All parishes must adhere to the Bishops’ requirements for a safe environment. The Faith Formation Office provides Child Lures Parent Guides for families to review at home with their child. This guide helps parents become aware of the ways children may be “lured” by people they know, or feel they can trust, as well as the influence and dangers of the internet. Please contact the CCD Office if you would like a copy of the Guide for review with your family.

Our Confirmation Candidates were asked to Tell Us Why they chose to be confirmed adult members of the Church. They share their thoughts with our Pastor and Parish Family ~ and we welcome them as fully initiated members of the Church! Dear Fr. Leary and my Parish Family, I chose to be confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church for many reasons. First, I strongly value my relationship with God - I believe that everything I do and every event that occurs in my life happens because He plans it. Being confirmed is important to me because it is what my Mother wanted for me. In June of last year, my Mom passed away. It left me and my family devastated, but she always had faith and wanted me to pursue my faith. I believe that prayer truly does change things. Faith in Christ gives me a sense of protection and a positive mindset! ~ Eilish

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THE 2013/2014 CCD YEAR Forms were recently mailed to all registered families, which included your child's/children's class placement. We are looking forward to your child’s return! Please contact the CCD Office at 860-521-2904 or email spcreled@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions or concerns regarding our teaching ministry. Please notify us if your child is entering Catholic School and will not be returning for CCD classes. Thank You!
