Realize: The key to being successful when utilizing social media, is becoming active online.

- Social media can be viewed as a large and vast world. It’s easy to get started, but it’s easy to get lost in the mix as well.

Becoming active online is more than spending time surfing the Web; it means putting your ideas out there for the world to see, remaining current on the latest news and trends, as well as social networking.

- Write about the things you find important or like. Your blogs and interests define who you are and can be a good indicator of one’s personality.

Once you have become active online, you must then become comfortable being online. In order to be comfortable online, you must essentially be comfortable in your own skin. You should have a sense of confidence in regard to yourself, your ability, and your work.

Things to Remember

After you have become both active and comfortable online, you must accept the fact that your work and ideas are out there for everyone to see. When your work is placed before the world, you need to understand that people will criticize it. Don’t take every harsh criticism to heart. *Think of it this way, your social media site is your world and everyone else just lives in it.
