Can you believe it is that time of the year again...? Well you better believe it is! As we all know, tax time can be a little stressful, but here are a few tips that we feel will take the stress away and guide you.

Claim all eligible deductions

Don’t leave money on the table! Make sure to claim all allowable deductions such as property management fees, maintenance costs, insurance and advertising for tenants

Get a tax depreciation schedule

If you haven’t already, consider engaging a quantity surveyor to provide a depreciation schedule. This can significantly boost your tax return by claiming wear and tear on the property and its fixtures.

Keep records organised

Ensure all invoices, receipts and statements are well-documented and easy to access. Your property manager can provide a full EOFY summary to make tax time easier.

Review your investment strategy

EOFY is a great time to reassess your investment goals. Consider whether your current rental income, expenses, and market position align with your long-term plans.

Book a tax time review with your accountant

A quick meeting with your accountant can ensure you’re maximising your return and aware of any recent legislative changes that may impact your property investments
