“Everybody has to be able to participate in a future that they want to live for. That’s what technology can do.” Dean Kamen

Selected Work 2019–2021 Yan (Stone) LI MA

Objective Create materials for a hypothetical or an existing conference. Design a visual concept that demonstrate a conceptual and typographic system.

Approach

Instructor John Nettleton

Project 01 Design Conference

This conference is about the interaction between design and technology, and how that interaction can improve human lives. My concept is futurism, which is reflected visually through the movement of modules. The whole system is a two color job only, keeping it simple yet stylish.

“The beauty and mystery of the ocean, fills our lives with wonders, vast beyond our imagination. ” M. L. Borges

Objective This project needs to choose an abstract word for creation, such as “snow”, “fog”, “fire” and other abstract words for magazine design. These abstract words need the fluency of the story and the choice of font. I chose the word “ocean”. It will be print, creative, and magazine design.

Selected Work 2019–2021 Yan (Stone) LI MA

Approach Project 02 Magazine

This project is about the ocean. In this project, I use the ocean to describe the horizontal and vertical changes in people’s hearts and the different feelings. When we face the ocean, why should I think of the ocean as black, because the ocean is a kind of Mysterious object, I want to use black to experience the unknown and mystery of the ocean.

“We struggle with eating healthily, obesity, and access to good nutrition for everyone. But we have a great opportunity to get on the right side of this battle by beginning to think differently about the way that we eat and the way that we approach food. ” Marcus Samuelsson

32

Objective How can I suggest that parents pay more attention to their children’s health by starting with good eating habits: I would like to establish a system to help parents more about the importance of the liver, the if obesity can lead to fatty liver diseases, and how to help parents have a better diet to affect their children. Looking for a real social problem, design a brand that solves this problem with 3 key deliverables and a set of marketing posters for the brand.

Selected Work 2019–2021 Yan (Stone) LI MA

Approach Project 03 Branding–nutry

At present, the obesity rate of children in the United States is increasing year by year, and children’s obesity will cause many adverse diseases, such as fatty liver. We hope that parents can pay attention to this problem and lead their children to love eating vegetables so as to avoid fatty liver and reduce the probability of childhood obesity.

Project 04 Human Rights

My project is to showcase the work of human rights related technicians, integrate their work and play a role in amplifying their influence. By joining us, we can better understand that human rights are an issue that has a great impact on the world. The reason why I choose red as the main visual color of the whole is that red is a more eye-catching and important signal. With strong red, people can pay more attention to this social problem, so I use large area of red and exaggerated design concept to design and develop.

“I read annual reports of the company I’m looking at and I read the annual reports of the competitors - that is the main source of material.” Warren Buffett

Objective

Approach

Instructor John Nettleton

Project 05 Annual Report–Burberry

Burberry is a luxury brand image company, its wool products are famous all over the world. I want to take this market to a higher level. I used their main image colors in my design. In addition to data analysis, I also paid more attention to the design of board layout, so as to make their annual report more attractive. Starting from the cover design at the beginning, I also used different folding in the division of each chapter to improve the interactivity and make it look more interesting. Give a person a kind of fresh design expression.

Selected Work 2019–2021 Yan (Stone) LI MA

Burberry is a high-end luxury brand company, mainly clothing, wool products and other products. Their annual report includes philosophy and mission history of innovation, the path toward the future, financial summary, etc. The information in the Annual Report was huge, and my task was to create a more readable layout using negative space and other element. Carry on the better visual system analysis and design.
