Annual Music Concert Primary Awards Secondary School Awards Ceremony School Closes for Summer Holidays School reopens for the 2014-15 Academic Year
PRIMARY NEWS Dear Parents,
They reminded us of one very important fact “Play is the work of any Early Years student!” they did this by reciting a wonderful poem that explained how different forms of play prepare them for the future.
The last week of term is upon us and we have a fully packed week of events. Please see the information below about individual events and timings etc.
P8 Ceremony This was the time for the P8 to reflect on all that they have encountered and achieved in their lives as Primary Students. We reflected on life in the PYP and also thought a little about making good life choices and being prepared for MYP or Middle school in another school, if they are not returning to Stonehill or another IB MYP school. We wish them well as they carry on their learning journey.
Dates for your Diary 9th June Music Concert Individual students performing in music concert 1.25pm to 3pm – all parents are welcome to attend.
10th June 1.45 pm Primary Awards Ceremony. This year we will only be presenting one award per class from P4 to P8. The parents of the award winners have been notified but we ask that this is kept secret until the actual ceremony.
Rickshaw Event Thank you to the PTA for organising this end of year event that is firm favourite with our students. I would also like to thank all the staff for their support with this event and with the House Friday in general over the course of the year.
12th June – Report cards distributed, school will close at Noon. Student will be given Pizza before they leave.
Learning Journey The P3 did a wonderful job on Tuesday taking us through their learning journey for the year. They spent a lot of time reflecting on all the interesting and exciting things they have done. We say that they had many visitors to share their knowledge with the class, that field trips had helped to consolidate their learning with linking the classroom to the wider environment and that above all fun was had by all!
A Plea Yes, it is the lost and found again! The tables outside my office are groaning under the strain. Please do take the opportunity to collect your things when in school. All unclaimed items at the end of term will be given away. Farewell As the phrase goes “some things are better left 1
unsaid and good bye is one of them”! Still I think I cannot dodge this goodbye to the whole community, thank you to all the various groups and individuals, far too many to mention by name, for your support, guidance and friendship over the past six years!
I also wish all of you a safe and happy summer and good luck in the coming school year wherever you may be. Helen Sharrock Primary Principal/Deputy Director

SECONDARY NEWS The Academic Year Draws to a Close With just a few days left of school before our Summer Holidays start, we can already feel the excitement growing amongst the students. Our last week of term promises to be a busy one, as we celebrate many of our student’s achievements.
I am delighted with the high standard of attainment and effort that students have made during the course of this year. At the start of the year I challenged students to do their very best and to make the most of the many learning opportunities offered by Stonehill. I am pleased to report that the vast majority of students have acted on this advice and have acquitted themselves well.
At 1.25pm on Monday, 9th June, we have the opportunity to enjoy the impressive talents and efforts of our Instrumental Music students during our Annual Music Concert that will be held in the Multipurpose hall.
While the end of year is a time for celebration, it is also a time for farewells. On behalf of parents, students and the Secondary School, I would like to wish those staff who are leaving Stonehill, all the very best for the future. We thank you for all that you have done for our students.
At 2.00pm on Wednesday, 11th June, we have our Secondary School End of Year Assembly in the Multipurpose Hall. During this assembly the Student Council will recognize and thank all the students and staff who are leaving Stonehill at the end of the academic year, and wish them all the very best for the future.
To those families leaving Stonehill at the end of term to return home or for further world adventures, we also wish you the very best of luck for the future and hope that you will stay in touch. We will miss you all.
Finally, at 10.00am sharp on Thursday, 12th June, we will celebrate the many achievements of our students at our Secondary Awards Ceremony, which will be hosted in the Multipurpose Hall. We very much hope that parents will join us for this important celebration. Parents are asked to be seated in the hall by 9.50am. Following the ceremony, lunch will be served in the Cafeteria at 11.30am and then student buses will depart at 12.00pm.
On a personal note, I would like to thank all the Secondary School Staff for their dedication, hard work and professionalism throughout the year. I would also like to acknowledge the incredible support provided by parents. I have very much appreciated it. It has been an excellent year. Examinations Finish There were a lot of happy faces around school on Tuesday afternoon after the End of Year Examinations finished. We are very pleased with the way students approached their exams and hope that they are well rewarded for their effort when they receive their results.
Parents are asked to inform the Transport Manager (email@example.com) directly if they intend to take their children home by car after any of the above events.
