Menston is a regular entrant to Yorkshire in Bloom and is rightly proud of its floral displays. The awards form part of Britain In Bloom, and the awards recognise volunteers, community groups and councils for their efforts to make their cities, towns and villages more beautiful. Ilkley is famed for its real food markets, where local food producers come together to tempt your tastebuds with cakes and bakes, coffee and charcuterie. Ilkley is perhaps most well known for its moor, which rises to 1,319 ft above sea level and is only

3 miles from Hawthorn Grange. The moor is the inspiration for Yorkshire’s county anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht ‘at” (dialect for ‘on Ilkley Moor without a hat’). The moor is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as well as having Special Protection status. It is very popular with both locals and visitors. The moor features a spa pool on White Wells that is popular throughout the year and never more so on New Year’s Day!
