County Commissioner's Ramble I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer period! We now look forward to starting our new term and I was pleased to see many members enjoying themselves during August either on summer camp or at the Hesley Activity Day. I am informed that close to 400 young members from South Yorkshire experienced an international experience over this summer, either at Group, County or District level, which is a great achievement and I have heard many stories from the young people, especially the Jamboree Unit. As we start scouting again can I take this opportunity to remind you that the County Annual General Meeting is on the 14th September at Hesley Wood to which you are all invited. Final planning will take place this month for the County Information Weekend at the start of October. This event is a chance for all Leaders to share ideas and learn new skills. Spooktacular will then be upon us. To avoid disappointment contact the office now to book on to both of these events. September is always a busy month, blink and you’ll miss it! Best wishes for the new Scouting year. Andy Moore County Commissioner

You Scout - Explorers & Network With members from every part of the UK, Scouting represents a range of views. We want our public affairs work to do the same. That’s why we are setting up YouScout, an opinion poll made up of Network, Explorers and Young Leaders in these sections. We will be calling on members of this group to give their opinions on a range of topical issues, quite often at short notice, to inform our work with the Government, media and other decision makers. If you would like to be part of this group, please complete the registration form at http://bit.ly/gstaAo. If you are a leader who knows youth members who would like to help us speak out on behalf of Scouting, please do encourage them to contact the Public Affairs and Campaigns Team by firstname.lastname@example.org.
