Pastor’s Message Dear Parents, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends: I am deeply grateful for the generosity of our parents, alumni, and friends who support the students we educate and the faculty who dedicate themselves to this important ministry. We believe that attending Catholic school should be accessible to anyone who seeks an education based in the Gospel values of Jesus Christ. This means keeping the tuition as low as possible and asking parents, alumni, and friends to support our mission with gifts of financial charity because tuition does not cover the full cost of a St. Mary’s education. Our parents, alumni, and parishioners are at the core of those who support the Schools with time, talent, and treasure. The Parent Teacher Organization, Gaels Parents Association, School Boards, Alumni Association, Rosary Society, and Knights of Columbus spearhead many fundraising and friend-raising activities. I could not be more grateful to them for their passionate commitment and to all those who helped in so many ways. Whether you volunteered your time or made a gift, your actions and contributions were very much appreciated. Indeed, the time you spend volunteering in school activities and the contributions you make in charitable gifts, sustain our mission and directly impact the experience of our current students and the legacy of a St. Mary’s education. I am also tremendously blessed with the gift of a faculty, staff, and administration whose commitment to our mission to deliver a Catholic education is unwavering. Their dedication is central to the work we do and who we are as a Catholic institution. They continue the traditional and superior education of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Marist Brothers of the Schools so that we may graduate the finest young men and women who represent The Schools of Saint Mary as they continue their educational journey. I am so grateful for all they do. In the years ahead there will always be The Schools of Saint Mary to provide an excellent Catholic education for our parishioners and students from surrounding communities. Know that it is because of the blessing and generosity of each and every one of you that sustains us. In Jesus and Mary,

Reverend Fr. Robert A. Romeo Pastor

The Saint Mary’s Elementary School Chorus made their debut at Citi Field by singing the National Anthem pre-game with over 500 faculty, staff. friends and family members on hand to see them perform at our Inaugural Family Fun Day.

President’s Message Dear Saint Mary’s Community, On behalf of the administration and the faculty and staff of The Schools of Saint Mary, I extend my sincere gratitude to our benefactors for sharing your resources so generously for the support of our students in Nursery through Twelfth Grade. Our dear parents, faithful alumni, parishioners, and extended family of friends continue to support the mission of The Schools of Saint Mary, which is unwavering in its commitment to providing an education that teaches and lives the Gospel values of Jesus Christ. How blessed are we to have been given the daunting responsibility of providing our students with a faith-based foundation in education, leadership, and character. The purpose of this report is to recognize and give thanks to our supporters. It is also a call to action. That is, to ask you to remain ambassadors in Christ through your support of our work. Each year we are blessed to have many faithful donors and many new donors who make financial gifts to Saint Mary’s. I am personally grateful for your contributions and ask that you remain loyal, at whatever level your means allow, from year to year. Every single gift makes a tremendous difference in our ability to provide scholarship and tuition assistance to highly qualified students who want a Catholic education but do not have the financial means to attend St. Mary’s. Your funds also allow our faculty to maintain an educational environment of excellence in their programs whether they teach a core subject or direct performing arts, physical fitness, or extracurricular activities. The achievements of our students are plentiful and a true testament to the commitment of our faculty and staff. Our High School students are accepted to and attend the most competitive schools in the nation. They achieve more than $15 million in scholarships from universities across the country. Likewise, our Elementary School students participate in programs that challenge their knowledge and skills and foster greater measures of growth and success. At the center of all that we do is our Catholic faith. Each day, students grow in their understanding of what it means to follow the Gospel values. They are confident in their faith and examples to others. The natural ease in living out their faith is a hallmark of an education at Saint Mary’s. As I begin my final few months as the President of The Schools of Saint Mary, I extend my prayer of gratitude and hope for this wonderfully dedicated community. Whether you are a parent, an alum, a parishioner, or a member of the faculty – you represent the goodness of the Gospel in our collaborative work to educate students in Christ. I will always hold Saint Mary’s in a special place of my heart. Gratefully yours,

Grace M. Cavallo President

Opening Day for The Schools of Saint Mary is always fun and exciting for students, faculty, staff, and parents to return to campus as well as greet new friends joining the St. Mary’s family for the very first time.

Annual Review of Gifts and Benefactors The Annual Fund is a critical source of unrestricted funds that meets the most immediate and critical needs facing The Schools of Saint Mary in a given year. The funds are always used in the fiscal year in which they are given, so donors are assured that their generosity has been put to immediate use. The Schools of Saint Mary is grateful to the following donors who made a gift to the Annual Fund in the 2015-2016 fiscal year (September 1, 2015 – August 31, 2016).

Restricted Funds SCHOLARSHIPS/TUITION ASSISTANCE

Scholarship opportunities and tuition assistance remain critical to families who wish to offer their children a Catholic education. Talented and deserving students are often in need of assistance to meet the necessary cost of tuition. We are also particularly grateful to those families who chose to remember their departed loved ones by directing gifts to St. Mary’s. These gifts are such a meaningful testament to how deeply St. Mary’s touches the lives of people. The Schools of Saint Mary is grateful to the following donors who chose to direct their gift(s) to scholarship and tuition assistance. On behalf of the student-recipients, we thank you for your support. Anne Alexander Helene Baeszler James Baker Cristina Bariso John Barrett Mary Anne Bates Dennis Breen Andrea Gannon Brereton
