Overview

Irrespective of whether you are planning to embark on your first degree, transfer from another programme or return to the university, our approach allows you to study for a world-class degree in Malta. Securing information systems from all threats is one of societies biggest challenges as more computer based systems are put in play. This brochure illustrates the structure of the MQF accredited level 6 BSc (Hons) Computing with Security & Cryptography read over three years on full-time basis. After completion of the first year, you are awarded an MQF level 5 Diploma in the same field of specialisation.

BSC (HONS) COMPUTING WITH SECURITY & CRYPTOGRAPHY This degree provides the academic span and rigour to equip you with the skills and competences that are increasingly sought after by employers. The programme equips you with a rich, dynamic understanding of coding and computer technology and prepares you for the demands of securing data and information against cybercriminals. As a student, you will be able to: • understand the vulnerabilities accessible information;

• develop secure systems using leading edge cryptography; • understand the necessity to uphold legal and moral obligations towards privacy of the individual. The BSc (Hons) programme empowers you to develop a wide and practical skillset in computing with strong programming and mathematical skills, as well as softer skills in project management, presentation and teamwork. You will also have a portfolio of work to present to potential employers. You will have all the skills and training as a computer scientist with the opportunity to specialise in security and cryptography.

Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education offers a portfolio of diplomas and degrees in computing with specialisations that are very much in demand. The Institute is licensed by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority to award qualifications ranging from MQF level 5 to MQF level 7. The Malta Qualification Framework is pegged to the European Qualification Framework, meaning that any qualification awarded by Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education is recognised in all twenty seven member states of the European Union, as well as in any other country with which the EU has bilateral recognition of qualifications.
