St. Mark Church School: On September 9 , the zoning board approved our application for a Day School. How exciting is that!!! We have a few more things that have to be done. We have to have a Safety Life Plan report done by an architect to be turned into the zoning office as well as paying for a zoning license and a business license. Please continue to pray, pray, pray. The school is being totally tuition and donation funded. We will be doing some fundraising to help with these expenses. And as always donations are greatly appreciated. In an attempt to help raise some money the Day School is now signed up with Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education so please save those box top and labels. There will be a box in the Narthex that you can drop them into. The school will get a check for all those box tops so start saving. Keep Praying and God Bless Stacey and Lisa *********************************************************************** Memorials – In memory of Thomas Coppedge, Ted Huckabee, Bill Lyons, Bubba Belding, & Bill McCabe by Jim & Jackie Ratledge. In memory of Ted Huckabee by Kenny & Patty Barfield, Jane Edgerton, Mike & Elaine Gooch, Georgia Odom. *********************************************************************** Stuffed Animals: The 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Sunday School are collecting new and gently used stuffed animals for needy children. A collection box will be found in their Classroom for any donations, and some are in the sanctuary! *********************************************************************** Good Neighbors: This month Good Neighbors meeting will be held on October 16 th at 12 noon in the Social Hall. We encourage all of our members to attend, because we are having a privately-funded safety program called “The Lighter Side of Senior Fire Safety.” It has a lot of humor, some new safety advice, and some important safety updates. *********************************************************************** Trunk or Treat: We will be celebrating Halloween with Trunk or Treat on October 31 st from 5:30 – 7:30. Please plan to come, decorate your trunk and enjoy watching all our our ghosts and goblins. For more information, contact Jandi Withrow or Andrea Dolan. *********************************************************************** Just a Reminder: When you place flowers in the sanctuary on Sunday morning, please be sure to pick them up after service and take them to someone who will enjoy their beauty. ***********************************************************************

THE INVITATION

THE CONFESSION Creator God, although You made all people in your image, we confess that we live with deep divisions. Although you sent Jesus to be savior of the world, we confess that we treat him as our own servant to meet our needs of purpose, power and pride. Although you are One and the Body of Christ is One, we fail to display that unity in our worship, our mission, and our fellowship. Although You came to liberate the captives and to heal the sick and to visit the lonely, we have failed to hear their cries and see their needs and so have not responded to Your call to love our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive our pride and arrogance, heal our souls, and renew our vision, for the sake of your Son, our savior, the Lord, Jesus Christ.

UMH - United Methodist Hymnal TFWS - The Faith We Sing

The Kingdom of God Ministers will be standing at the altar during the service of bread and wine. If you would like them to pray for you, simply catch their attention and they will kneel down at the altar with you or join you sitting in the front pew.

World Communion Sunday was begun among several U.S .Protestant denominations in the 1940s as a way of recognizing and celebrating that we celebrate Communion with Christians of many theologies and denominations all over the world. As I read this week, “The bread and the cup unite us with all who would follow Jesus. This meal reaches back through the centuries. This table reaches around the world. Let us eat and drink with joy.” (from the blog “Spacious Faith”)
