Thank you again to everyone who donated cookies for the Charleston Wesley Foundation's Great Cookie Give Away last week. It was a sweet success. There was an abundance of cookies and more students were welcomed in Jesus' name than expected. Rev. Lisa Hawkins told me that one young man enjoyed his cookies so much that he asked for another, ever so politely. She was glad to give him another oatmeal and raisin cookie, and then he asked, "Now what's the name of your group again?" When Lisa told me about it, I couldn't help but smile, thinking of how cookies can open to the door to a life of faith. Who knows but that someday a man will say, “I found Jesus because someone gave me a cookie.” Thank you!

Inspired by “Whosoever of you will be the chief-est, shall be servant of all.” Mark 10:44, Charles Wesley (1707-1788), the brother of John Wesley, wrote the following hymn. Through the lens of this hymn, we can interpret and focus our own labors properly on Christ. Servant of all, to toil for man Thou didst not, Lord, refuse; Thy majesty did not disdain To be employed for us.

Thy bright example I pursue, To Thee in all things rise; And all I think or speak or do Is one great sacrifice.

Son of the carpenter, receive This humble work of mine; Worth to my meanest labor give, By joining it to Thine.

Careless through outward cares I go, From all distraction free; My hands are but engaged below, My heart is still with Thee.

End of my every action Thou, In all things Thee I see; Accept my hallowed labor now, I do it unto Thee. May God bless all your labors to be fruitful, honest and to further the Kingdom of God!
