EPWORTH DON'T FORGET YOUR MOTHERS OR EPWORTH CHILDREN'S HOME NEXT SUNDAY! Next week is Mother's Day. We will buy flowers, call our mothers and maybe even take them out for lunch. Most of the more than 75 children at Epworth Children's Home will not be celebrating Mother's Day with their mothers. Instead they will be surrounded by loving staff and volunteers who walk with them daily to provide spiritual, educational, emotional and physical support. Epworth receives less than 30% of its funding from the government. Faithful Methodists from the past and present have invested the remaining portion of the budget to provide comprehensive care for every child who calls Epworth home. As you consider what God is calling you to give to support our church's ministry to children, remember Christ's command to let the little children come to him. He embraces them, welcomes them, loves them and teaches them. Epworth is answering this call to let the little children come. Your generous contribution to our church's ministry enables transformation to happen for the children who call Epworth home.

May 5, 2013 KINGDOM OF GOD MINISTRY The Kingdom of God Ministry invites you to come and learn more about prayer ministry. We will be hosting 6 opportunities to learn how to deepen your prayer life - each lesson builds on the previous lesson. All are welcome. The sessions will include a 45-60 minute video followed by 30 minute discussion. There is a book to accompany the videos at a cost of $15. These will be ordered by May 15. Please contact Susan Caulder at 819-8727 (sec1023@comcast.net) for any questions or any of the KOG ministers (Nancy Strickland, Amy Alexander or Linda Shealy) Planned Dates: June 2, June 9, June 16, June 23, July 7, July 21 (10:45am 12:15pm; meeting place TBA)

WHAT’S FOR LUNCH? No plans, don’t want to cook??? RUBY TUESDAY'S is working with our UMM Club and offering a 20% giveback to our church if you would like to dine with Ruby anytime today, or for the next three Sundays. Simply tell your waitress/waiter that you are with St. Mark UM Church. Take your bulletin with you to confirm your request. (You do not have to do this, but thought I would add this to the announcement.)

NURSERY I hope you have had a chance to stop by the nursery and meet Amanda James. She is our newest staff member and will be taking care of our children during church hours on Sundays. She is a wonderful addition and is excited to be here at St. Mark. Just a few reminders – please do not cut through the nursery to travel from the social hall to the Sunday school side of the church or vice versa. This is for the safety of our children and to help our nursery workers and volunteers be aware of who is coming and going. If you are a volunteer, please only have one child join you in the nursery as a helper. If you are a parent of a child in the nursery, we will have new sign in/out procedures soon so please be prepared in the upcoming week or so to allow a few additional moments to complete an information sheet on your child and to sign them in or out each Sunday. We appreciate everyone’s help as we work to update and improve the nursery. SAVE THE DATE Please mark May 30th on your calendar and save the date for a special evening here at St. Mark. Plans are being made for a special dinner and entertainment to help one of our parishioners. More information will be coming your way soon and believe me, you wont want to miss this night!
