A Letter from Our Head of School

Dear St. Mark’s Families and Friends,

It is with great pride that we present St. Mark’s Episcopal School’s Annual Report for the 2022-2023 school year.

This report celebrates the important impact of philanthropy from the past year. Our St. Mark’s community embodies a giving spirit, which is demonstrated through strong financial support of the Annual Fund, the school Auction, and the countless volunteer hours shared through the Parents’ Association. St. Mark’s is a place that dreams big. With the ongoing financial support of our community, we are able to make those big dreams a reality for the children.

We are remarkably proud of the caliber of St. Mark’s students and graduates! Rooted in the Episcopal faith, and through outstanding academic, extracurricular, and service programs, our graduates develop the ability to think critically and compassionately; skills which they apply to their academic subjects as well as to real life experiences.

We are thankful for your support, in all its forms, as it ensures that St. Mark’s meets our mission and inspires our students to achieve, serve, and lead. St. Mark’s graduates young people of substance who are building lives of genuine meaning, purpose, and service in the world they will inherit.

Gratefully,

2022-2023 St. Mark’s Annual Fund

St. Mark’s Annual Fund

St. Mark’s, like every other independent school, relies on its Annual Fund as its most important source of unrestricted revenue. Tuition covers the basic operations of the school, but it is the Annual Fund that allows St. Mark’s to provide the extras that make a St. Mark’s education so special.

Your gifts to the Annual Fund made numerous professional development opportunities possible for our faculty. This allows our

teachers to be more innovative and creative; to enhance current teaching methods; and to discover ways to ensure our students get the very best classroom experiences. Your donations also funded curricular innovations and new Smartboard technology for 14 classrooms.

The impact of participation in the Annual Fund is valued beyond dollars. Participation with any size gift demonstrates a commitment to St. Mark’s, the mission, and to the school’s future success.

Thank you for your gifts to the St. Mark’s Annual Fund!

2022-2023 St. Mark’s Auction

Auction Donors

The St. Mark’s Auction was a celebration of our St. Mark’s community at the beautiful PGA National Resort. We continued our tradition of bringing parents, friends, and for the first time in several years, faculty, together to celebrate community and fellowship in a festive atmosphere. The celebratory evening was attended by 235 attendees and many more participated from home in our silent auction online.

Each year the Auction proceeds help fund a specific strategic initiative that impacts today, tomorrow, and well into the future for St. Mark’s.

Through your generosity, the 2023 Auction raised nearly $200,000 for Phase 1 of our security enhancement project to install a cloud-based access control system. This type of access control solution will provide keyless entry on every door and gate on campus to keep students, staff, and visitors secure inside our school premises.

This incredible annual event would not be possible without our incredible volunteers and attendees Thank You!

The Cornerstone Scholarship offers promising students from neighboring, underserved communities the opportunity to experience a St. Mark’s education. Each year, The Cornerstone Service Award honors those individuals who possess a generosity of spirit, selfless character, and who lead and inspire our local community.

It is these characteristics which we hope to embody in students chosen for our Cornerstone Scholarship at St. Mark’s Episcopal School. This year, we honored veterans Charles Foreman and Jerry Haffey Jr. with the Cornerstone Service Award for their dedication and service to our country.

Thanks for your support of our Cornerstone scholars!

We were excited to welcome more than 800 Grandparents and “Grandfriends” to campus over the course of two days in February 2023. Grandparents spent time in classrooms, where they watched our amazing faculty in action; attended chapel with their grandchildren; and enjoyed a special presentation and a snack in Coleman Hall.

Grandparents Day was a huge success, and it was a great reminder of the importance of including grandparents in the St. Mark’s community.

The school and its students wouldn't be where it is today without the hard work, support, and dedication of all the grandparents and grandfriends! We appreciate you!
