Sunday 31 March 2013 Easter Sunday Early Morning Service TO THE TOMB

Leader: All: Leader: All: Leader:

Jesus was dead and Jesus was buried and His friends and followers called to each other: “Where shall we go?” Hope seemed smothered, darkness seemed to have triumphed. “Where shall we turn, where shall we go?” Then the Tomb was open, the body gone…..How can this be? He taught us that God is love………….

We all fall into Silence for 1 minute Word of Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Reading: of Mark Ch 16 v 1 – 8 THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS……….. Praise: CH4 404: I danced in the morning I danced in the morning when the world was begun, and I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun, and I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth at Bethlehem I had my birth. Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he, and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be, and I’ll lead you all in the Dance, said he. I danced on the Sabbath and I cured the lame, the holy people said it was a shame. They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high, and they left me there on a Cross to die.

I danced on a Friday when the sky turned black it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back. They buried my body and they thought I’d gone but I am the Dance and I still go on. They cut me down and I leapt up high I am the life that’ll never, never die. I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me, I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

The story of the gardens…………. Praise: CH4 411: Christ the Lord is risen today (the Children gather together the symbols for the different gardens) ‘Christ the Lord is risen today’, all on earth and angels say; raise your joys and triumphs high; sing, ye heavens, and earth reply. Love’s redeeming work is done, fought the fight, the battle won; lo! our Sun’s eclipse is o’er; lo! he sets in blood no more. Vain the stone, the watch, the seal; Christ has burst the gates of hell: death in vain forbids his rise; Christ has opened Paradise. Lives again our glorious King; where, O Death, is now thy sting? Once he died, our souls to save; where thy victory, O grave? Soar we now where Christ has led, following our exalted Head; made like him, like him we rise; ours the cross, the grave, the skies. Hail, the Lord of earth and heaven! Praise to thee by both be given;

thee we greet triumphant now; hail, the Resurrection thou! What now? Prayer Making our gardens of life with the Risen Christ! Prayer of dedication and affirmation Praise: MP 30: Alleluia, alleluia, given thanks to the risen Lord Alleluia, alleluia, give thanks to the risen Lord; Alleluia, alleluia, give praise to His name. Jesus is Lord of all the earth, He is the King of creation. Spread the good news o’er all the earth, Jesus has died and has risen. We have been crucified with Christ; now we shall live for ever. God has proclaimed the just reward, life for all men, alleluia. Come let us praise the living God, joyfully sing to our Saviour. Benediction CCL Licence No 409105 Scottish Charity No SCO15451
