Bible Quotation: “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.” (Matthew 6:14) Chosen by Pastor Paul Schofield (Metro Christian Centre) Dear Parents/Carers, We have celebrated another successful week of learning through an enriched curriculum at St Luke’s! It has been wonderful to sing our hearts out to Christian values of friendship, truth, love and respect through iSing Pop’s carefully crafted words. It is my pleasure to share with you the whole school’s excitement that we will be performing songs at St Peter’s Church on Wednesday 30th September at 1:30pm. Please look at the following website for more information www.isingpop.com. Canon Maurice Smith from the Diocese Board of Education is very much looking forward to hearing our children sing in church. Thank you to everybody in our Parent Community for their generosity for baking cakes and for donating to Macmillian Nurses. Our school has an ethos that supports coming together to raise monies for charities and worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally, furthermore embedding our Christian values. Miss Michael MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT: My name is Ms Sharp and I am the Year 5 teacher and Parent and Community Lead. Thank you for your extraordinary generosity in donating cakes for Macmillan. There has been an enormous response and we are delighted to be holding the sale in the hall. Macmillan are a charity close to many families hearts in our community. Every cake sold counts to more of our families, here in Bury, getting nursing care at the toughest of times. Thank you once again. You can find out more about this wonderful charity at www.macmillan.org.uk iSING POP: My name is Miss Fairclough and I am the Music Lead at St Luke’s. I also teach the Year 1&2 class. This week, children from Reception up to Year 6 have been involved in an exciting Music project called iSing Pop. They have been learning lots of songs that are based on Christian Values. I would like to invite all parents to attend a concert where the children will showcase their singing in a musical extravaganza at St Peter’s Church on 30th September at 1:30pm. There will be an opportunity to buy a CD with all the songs on, sung by the children – I will let you know more information about how to purchase one soon. Rafeen (1&2F) “In iSing Pop we have learned five exciting songs. My favourite song was ‘I hold my hands up’. Sami (5S) “I really enjoyed it because we got to learn new songs and have a dance.” Zahira (4W) “It is really good if you want to be a singer when you are older because it is a great experience.” PEER TOUCH SESSIONS: Yesterday a letter was sent to all parents inviting all families to a Peer Touch Workshop on Tuesday 22nd September at 9:15am. The session will be led by Mr Rolt (Deputy Head), Mrs Parker (PSHE Lead), Mr Abbas (Governor). Please come along to find out more about this exciting new part of our curriculum. ALFA: We are very lucky to have ALFA, a Bury based music project working with our Key Stage Two children every Thursday.
