‫ﻳﻮم اﻻرﺑﻌﺎء اﻟﻤﻮاﻓﻖ ‪ 25‬ﺷﺒﺎط )ﻓ ﺒ ﺮاﻳ ﺮ(‬ ‫‪ ،2009‬هﻮ أرﺑ ﻌ ﺎء اﻟ ﺮﻣ ﺎد‪ ،‬وه ﻮ اﻟ ﻴ ﻮم‬ ‫اﻷول ﻣ ﻦ زﻣ ﻦ اﻟﺼ ﻮم‪ .‬آ ﺜ ﻴ ﺮون ﻻ‬ ‫ﻳﺘﻄﻠﻌﻮن اﻟﻰ هﺬا اﻟﻤﻮﺳﻢ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺴ ﻨ ﺔ‪ .‬وﻟ ﻮ‬ ‫ُﺳﺆِﻟﻨﺎ ﻣﺎه ﻮ اﻟ ﺰﻣ ﻦ اﻟ ﻠ ﻴ ﺘ ﻮرﺟ ﻲ اﻷآ ﺜ ﺮ‬ ‫ﺳﻌﺎدة وﻓﺮﺣﺎ؟ ﻓﻜﺜﻴﺮون ﻣﻨﺎ ﺳﻴﺠ ﻴ ﺒ ﻮن‪” :‬‬ ‫ﻋﻴﺪ اﻟﻤﻴﻼد أو ﻋﻴﺪ اﻟﻘﻴﺎﻣﺔ“‪ .‬وﻣﻦ اﻟﻤﻌﺘ ﺎد‬ ‫أﻟﱠﺎ ُﻳ ْﻌ َﺘﺒَﺮ زﻣﻦ اﻟﺼﻮم زﻣﻨ ﺎ ﺳ ﻌ ﻴ ﺪا‪ ،‬ﻷﻧ ﻪ‬ ‫اﻟﺰﻣﻦ اﻟﺬي ﻧﺘﺨﻠﻰ وﻧﻨﻘﻄﻊ ﻓﻴﻪ ﻋﻦ ﺑﻌ ﺾ‬ ‫اﻻﺷﻴﺎء‪.‬‬

‫ﻦ ذِﻟﻚَ؟‬ ‫وﻣﺎ هﻲ اﻟ ِﻌ ْﺒ َﺮ ُة ِﻣ ْ‬ ‫أﺣ ُﺪ اﻻﺳﺒﺎب اﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﺪﻋﻮﻧﺎ اﻟ ﻰ اﻹﻧ ﻘ ﻄ ﺎع‬ ‫ﻋ ﻦ أﻣ ﻮر ﻣ ﻌ ﻴ ﻨ ﺔ ه ﻮ اﻟ ﺘ ﻌ ﻮﻳ ﺾ ﻋ ﻦ‬ ‫ﺧ ﻄ ﺎﻳ ﺎﻧ ﺎ‪ .‬وه ﺬﻩ إﺳ ﻤ ﻬ ﺎ ”اﻟ ﻜ ﱠﻔ ﺎرة“ أو‬ ‫”اﻟﺘﻜﻔﻴﺮ“ ﻋﻦ اﻟﺨﻄﺎﻳﺎ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻳَﻐ ِﻔ ُﺮ اﻟﺴﻴ ُﺪ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺢ ﺧﻄﺎﻳﺎﻧﺎ ﻋ ﻨ ﺪﻣ ﺎ ﻧ ﻜ ﻮن‬ ‫ﺐ ﻣ ﻨ ﻪ ان‬ ‫ﻧﺎدﻣﻴﻦ ﻋ ﻨ ﻬ ﺎ ﺣ ﻘ ﻴ ﻘ ﺔ‪ ،‬وﻧ ﻄ ﻠ ُ‬ ‫ﻳﺸﻔﻴﻨﺎ‪ .‬و َﻣ ْﻮ ُﺗ ُﻪ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﺼ ﻠ ﻴ ﺐ ﻣ ﻦ أﺟ ﻠ ﻨ ﺎ‪،‬‬ ‫ﻳﺨﻠﺼﻨﺎ ﻣﻦ اﻟ ﻌ ﻮاﻗ ﺐ اﻷﺑ ﺪﻳ ﺔ ﻟ ﺨ ﻄ ﺎﻳ ﺎﻧ ﺎ‬ ‫ﻋﻨﺪﻣﺎ ﻧ ﻌ ﺘ ﺮف ﻟ ﻪ ﺑ ﻬ ﺎ‪ .‬وﻟ ﻜ ﻦ ﻓ ﻲ ﻧ ﻔ ﺲ‬ ‫اﻟ ﻮﻗ ﺖ‪ ،‬ﻓ ﺈن ﻋ ﺪاﻟ ﺔ اﷲ ﺗ ﻄ ﻠ ﺐ ﻣ ﻨ ﺎ أن‬ ‫ﻧﻌﻮض ﻋﻦ اﻟﻨﺘ ﺎﺋ ﺞ اﻟ ﺰﻣ ﻨ ﻴ ﺔ ﻟ ﺨ ﻄ ﺎﻳ ﺎﻧ ﺎ‪،‬‬ ‫وﻋﻦ ﻋﺪم اﻟﺘﻮازن “اﻟﺨﻠﻞ“ اﻟﺬي ادت إﻟﻴﻪ‬ ‫هﺬﻩ اﻟﺨﻄﺎﻳﺎ ﻓﻲ هﺬا اﻟﻌﺎﻟﻢ‪ .‬ﻓ ﺰﻣ ﻦ اﻟﺼ ﻮم‬ ‫هﻮ ﻓﺮﺻﺘﻨﺎ ﻟﻠﻤﺼﺎﻟﺤﺔ ﻣﻊ اﷲ ﻋﻦ ﻃ ﺮﻳ ﻖ‬ ‫اﻟﻮﺳﺎﺋﻞ اﻟﻤﺨﺘﻠﻔﺔ اﻟﺘ ﻲ اﻋ ﻄ ﺎﻧ ﺎ اﻳ ﻬ ﺎ اﷲ‪،‬‬ ‫وهﻲ‪ :‬اﻟﺼﻴ ﺎم‪ ،‬اﻟﺼ ﻼة وأﻋ ﻤ ﺎل اﻟ ﺨ ﻴ ﺮ‪.‬‬ ‫آﻤﺎ ﻳﻌ ﻄ ﻴ ﻨ ﺎ اﻟ ﻔ ﺮﺻ ﺔ ﻟ ﻨ ﺘ ﺄﻣ ﻞ َآ ْﻢ ﻧ ﺤ ﻦ‬

‫ﺑﻘﻠﻢ آﺎهﻦ اﻟﺮﻋﻴﺔ اﻻب اﻟﺪآﺘﻮر ‪ /‬رﻳﻚ ﻓﺎن دي وﺗﺮ‬

‫ﻣﺘﻌﻠﻘﻴﻦ ﺑـﺎﻷﻣـﻮر اﻟـﺪﻧـﻴـﻮﻳـﺔ واﻟـﻤـﻠـﺬات‪.‬‬ ‫وﻓﻲ ﺑﻌﺾ اﻻﺣﻴﺎن ﻧﺼﺒﺢ أﺳـﺮى ﻟـﻬـﺎ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻓﺰﻣﻦ اﻟﺼﻮم هﻮ ﻓﺮﺻﺘﻨﺎ اﻟﺴﻨﻮﻳﺔ ﻟﻨﺘـﺒـﻊ‬ ‫اﻟـﻤـﺴــﻴـﺢ ﻓـﻲ اﻟﺼـﺤـﺮاء‪ ،‬وان ﻧــﺘـﻮﻗــﻒ‬ ‫وﻧﻨﻈﺮ ﻓـﻲ داﺧـﻞ أﻧـﻔـﺴـﻨـﺎ‪ ،‬وان ﻧـﺪرك‬ ‫وﻧﺘـﻌـﺮف ﻋـﻠـﻰ اﻵﻟـﻬـﺔ اﻟـﻤـﺰﻳـﻔـﺔ اﻟـﺘـﻲ‬ ‫ﺴﻨَﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻣﻠـﺬاﺗـﻨـﺎ اﻟـﺪﻧـﻴـﻮﻳـﺔ‪.‬‬ ‫ﺻﻨﻌﻨﺎهﺎ ﻷﻧ ُﻔ ِ‬ ‫وﺧﻼل زﻣﻦ اﻟﺼـﻮم ﻳـﻤـﻜـﻨـﻨـﺎ ان ﻧﺴـﺄل‬ ‫ي ﻣﻦ اﻵﻟﻬﺔ اﻟﻤﺰﻳﻔﺔ أدﻣـﻨـﺎ‬ ‫أﻧﻔﺴﻨﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ ا ﱟ‬ ‫ﺴﻖْ‪ ،‬اﻟـﻄـﻌـﺎم‪ ،‬اﻟﺸـﺮاب‪ ،‬او‬ ‫) اﻟﻤﺎل‪ ،‬اﻟ ُﻔ ُ‬ ‫اي أﻣﻮر أﺧﺮى( ‪.‬‬ ‫ب هﺬا اﻟﺰﻣﻦ اﻟﺨﺎص‬ ‫ض ﻋﻠﻴﻨﺎ اﻟﺮ ﱡ‬ ‫وﻳﻌﺮ ُ‬ ‫ن ﻧﻌﻮ َد إﻟﻰ‬ ‫ﺳ َﺮﻧَﺎ‪ ،‬وأ ْ‬ ‫ﻞ ﻣﺎ أ َ‬ ‫ﻦآﱠ‬ ‫ﻟﻨﺘﺤﺮر ِﻣ ْ‬ ‫اﷲ ﺣﻴﺚ اﻷﻣﺎن واﻹﺳﺘﻘﺮار‪.‬‬ ‫ﻖ‬ ‫ﻞ ﻣﺘﺴﺎﺑـ ٍ‬ ‫وﻗﺪ آﺘﺐ اﻟﻘﺪﻳﺲ ﺑﻮﻟﺲ ‪ “:‬وآ ٌ‬ ‫ﻳﺤﺮم ﻧﻔﺴﻪ آﻞ ﺷﻲء‪ ،‬ﻓـﻬـﺆﻻء ﻳـﻔـﻌـﻠـﻮن‬ ‫ﻦ‬ ‫ﻞ ﻳَـﺰُول‪ ،‬وأﻣﱠـﺎ ﻧـﺤـ ُ‬ ‫ﻦ أﺟﻞ إآﻠـﻴـ ٍ‬ ‫ذﻟﻚ ِﻣ ْ‬ ‫ﻦ أﺟﻞ إآﻠﻴﻞ ﻻ ﻳﺰول‪ .‬وهﻜﺬا ﻓﺎﻧﻲ ﻻ‬ ‫ﻓ ِﻤ ْ‬ ‫ﻦ‬ ‫أﺟﺮي ﻋﻠﻰ ﻏﻴﺮ هُﺪى‪ ،‬وﻻ أُﻻآِـ ُﻢ آَـﻤَـ ْ‬ ‫ﺟﺴَـﺪي وُأذِﻳـﻘُـ ُﻪ‬ ‫ﻳﻠﻄ ُﻢ اﻟـﺮﻳـﺢَ‪ ،‬ﺑـﻞ أﻗْـﻤَـ ُﻊ َ‬ ‫اﻟﻌﺒﻮدﻳﺔ‪ ،‬ﻣﺨﺎﻓﺔ أن أآﻮن ﻣﺮﻓﻮﺿًﺎ ﺑـﻌـﺪ‬ ‫ﺖ ﻏَﻴﺮي“ )‪ 1‬ﻗﻮرﻳﻨﺘﻮس ‪(27-26 :9‬‬ ‫ﻈ ُ‬ ‫ﻋ ْ‬ ‫ﻣﺎ َو َ‬ ‫ﻟﻢ ﻳﻜﻦ ﻟﺪى اﻟﻘﺪﻳﺲ ﺑﻮﻟـﺲ اﻟـﺮﺳـﻮل اي‬ ‫ﺚ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺤﻴﻴﻦ اﻻواﺋﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ‬ ‫ارﺗﻴﺎب ﻓﻲ ﺣ ﱢ‬ ‫”ﻗﻤﻊ اﺟﺴﺎدهﻢ وﻣﻌﺎﻣﻠﺘﻬﺎ ﺑﻘﺴﻮة“‪ ،‬وهﺬﻩ‬ ‫ﺴﻬُﻮﻟ ٍﺔ ﻋَﺎَﻟ ُﻢ اﻟـﺜـﻘـﺎﻓـ ِﺔ‬ ‫ﻧﺼﻴﺤ ٌﺔ ﻻ ﻳﺘﻘﺒﻠُﻬﺎ ِﺑ ُ‬ ‫ﻲ‪ .‬وهﺬا ﻣﻦ اﺣـﺪ اﻷﺳـﺒـﺎب‬ ‫اﻟﻤﺎدﻳ ِﺔ اﻟﺤﺎﻟ ﱢ‬ ‫ﻂ ﻋَـﺎ َد َة أآـﻞ‬ ‫ﺖ اﻟﻜﻨﻴـﺴَـ َﺔ ﻟِـﺘُـﺴْـﻘِـ َ‬ ‫اﻟﺘﻲ دﻓﻌ ْ‬ ‫اﻟﺴﻤﻚ ﻳﻮ َم اﻟﺠـﻤـﻌـﺔ‪ ،‬ﺧـﻼل اﻳـﺎم اﻟﺴـﻨـﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﻌﺎدﻳﺔ‪ .‬وﺑـﺪﻻ ﻣـﻦ اﻟﺼَـ ْﻮ ِم ”اﻟﺴـﻠـﺒـﻲ“‬ ‫ﻓﺎﻧﻪ آﺎن ﻋﻠﻴﻨﺎ ان ﻧﻘﻮم ﺑﻌﻤﻞ ”إﻳﺠﺎﺑـﻲ“‪.‬‬ ‫ﻟﻜﻦ ﺑﺎﻟﺤﻘﻴﻘﺔ آﻢ ﻣﻦ اﻟﻨﺎس ﻳﺒﺬﻟﻮن ﺟُﻬﺪًا‬ ‫ﻟﻌﻤﻞ ﺷﻴﺌﺎ إﻳﺠﺎﺑﻴﺎ‪.‬؟‬ ‫وهﺬﻩ اﻟﻔﻜﺮة ﺗﻨﻄﺒﻖ ﻋﻠـﻰ زﻣـﻦ اﻟﺼـﻴـﺎم‬ ‫أﻳﻀﺎ‪ .‬ﻓﺎﻧـﻪ ﻣـﻦ اﻷﺳـﻬـﻞ ﻋـﻤـﻞ ﺷـﻴـﺊ‬ ‫”ﺳﻠﺒﻴﺎ“ ﻣﺜﻞ اﻟﺼﻴـﺎم‪ ،‬ﺑـﺪﻻ ﻣـﻦ ﻋـﻤـﻞ‬ ‫ﺷﻴﺊ ”اﻳﺠﺎﺑﻴﺎ“ ﻣﺜﻞ ﻣﺴﺎﻣﺤـﺔ اﻻﺧـﺮﻳـﻦ‪.‬‬ ‫وهﺬﻩ اﻟﻨﺘﺎﺋﺞ اﻹﻳﺠﺎﺑﻴﺔ هﻲ اﻟﺘﻲ ﺗ ِﻬ ﱡﻢ اﷲَ‪،‬‬ ‫ﻷﻧﻬﺎ دﻻﻟ ٌﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﺘﻮﺑﺔ اﻟﺤﻘﻴﻘﻴﺔ واﻟﺘﻐﻴﻴـﺮ‬ ‫ﻓﻲ اﻟﺤﻴﺎة‪ .‬اﻟﺼﻴـﺎم )ﺗﻀﺤـﻴـﺔ اﻻﻧـﻘـﻄـﺎع‬ ‫‪2‬‬

“Ash Wednesday Begins the Season of Lent” REPENTANCE

The door is still open

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”

Wednesday, February 25th, is Ash Wednesday, the first day of the season of Lent. Many people do not look forward to this time of the year. If someone were to ask, “What is the happiest liturgical season?” most o f u s w o u l d a n s w e r, “Christmas” or “Easter.” Lent is usually not considered a happy season because it is a time of giving things up. What is the point? One reason for giving things up during Lent is reparation for sin. This is called “penance.” Christ forgives our sins whenever we are truly repentant and ask Him to heal us. His death on the cross for us saves us from the eternal consequences of the sins we confess to Him. At the same time, however, God’s justice demands that we make reparation for the temporal effects of our sins, for the disharmony that they have caused in this world. Lent is our special opportunity to make those reparations through the various means the Lord has given us: fasting, prayer and charitable works.

Another valuable aspect of giving things up for Lent is that it allows us to consider just how attached we are to our pleasures and possessions. Sometimes we let them become our prisons. Lent is our yearly opportunity to follow Christ into the desert and really stop and take stock of ourselves and recognize the false gods that we have made of our worldly pleasures. In Lent we can ask ourselves to what false gods (money, immorality, food, drink, substance abuse) we have become addicted. The Lord offers us this special season to be freed from whatever might imprison us and return to Him for true security and fulfillment. St. Paul wrote, “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. All the players at the games go into strict training. They do this just to win a wreath that will wither away, but we do it for a wreath that will never wither. That is how I run, intent on winning. I treat my body hard and make it obey me, for, having been a preacher myself, I should not want to be disqualified” (1 Cor 9:26-27).

The apostle Paul had no qualms about urging the early Christians to “treat their bodies hard.” It is advice that does not go down well in today’s soft, materialistic culture. That is one of the reasons why the Church dropped the fish-onFridays practice. Instead of this “negative” tradition, we were supposed to do something “positive.” But how many people really make an effort to do something positive? The same applies for the season of Lent: it is easier to do something “negative” like fasting than it is to do something “positive” like forgiving others. It is those positive results that really concern our Lord, because they indicate true

According to St. Augustine, “A true sacrifice is every work done that we may be united to God in holy fellowship.” Lent is our opportunity to look “sacrifice” squarely in the face. Come join us for the receiving of the ashes on Saturday February 28th at 7:00 p.m. as we begin our Lenten season together. Join us every Saturday of Lent at 6:30 p.m. for the Stations of the Cross. And remember: Happiness is…a Christian living Lent!

Fasting (giving up food), prayer (giving up time) and charitable works (giving up money) can help us to reach that goal. The “negative” act of giving up can at the same time be very positive. Gandhi said, “Fasting, if it is a spiritual act, is an intense prayer…it is a yearning of the soul to merge with the divine essence.” That is exactly what Christ meant when He said, “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” To give up something we like to eat during Lent can be a very positive act of love for God and reparation for our sins. To go to mass on Sunday mornings means giving up a nice warm bed and time to our selves, but it too is a positive act of love for God. Charity to others is also love for God, as Jesus said, “Whatever you have done for one of the least of these, you have done for me.”

‫‪2009 - 1989‬‬ ‫اﻟﻤﺤﺒﻮب اﻟﺬي ﻳﻠﺠﺄ اﻟﻴﻪ اﺑﻨﺎء اﻟﻜﻨﻴﺴﺔ‪،‬‬ ‫ﺻﻐﺎرا وآﺒﺎرا ﺷﻴﺒﺎ وﺷﺒﺎﻧﺎ‪ .‬ﻓﻬﻨﺎ آﺎن‬ ‫ﻳﻠﺘﻘﻲ اﻻﺣﺒﺔ ﻟﻠﺘﻌﺎرف واﻟﺘﺂﺧﻲ وﻗﻀﺎء‬ ‫اﻟﻮﻗﺖ اﻟﻤﻤﺘﻊ ﻣﻊ ﺑﻌﻀﻬﻢ اﻟﺒﻌﺾ‪ ،‬ﺗﺤﺖ‬ ‫ﻏﻄﺎء اﻟﻜﻨﻴﺴﺔ اﻟﻤﻘﺪﺳﺔ وﻓﻲ ﺟﻮ ﻧﻈﻴﻒ‬ ‫ﻻ ﻳﻌﻜﺮ ﺻﻔﻮﻩ أي ﻣﻦ اﻻﻣﻮر اﻟﺘﻲ آﺎن‬ ‫اﻟﺠﻤﻴﻊ ﻳﺨﺸﻰ ﻋﻠﻰ اﺑﻨﺎﺋﻬﻢ ﻣﻦ اﻻﻧﺰﻻق‬ ‫اﻟﻴﻬﺎ او ﺣﺘﻰ اﻟﺘﻌﺮض ﻟﻬﺎ‪ .‬ﻧﺎهﻴﻚ ﻋﻦ‬ ‫دروس اﻟﺪﻳﻦ واﻟﺘﻌﻠﻴﻢ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺤﻲ اﻟﻤﻜﺜﻔﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﺘﻲ آﺎن ﻳﻘﺪﻣﻬﺎ آﺎهﻦ اﻟﺮﻋﻴﺔ وﻳﻐﺬي‬ ‫ﺑﻬﺎ ﻧﻔﻮس اﻟﺸﺒﻴﺒﺔ واﻟﺒﺎﻟﻐﻴﻦ‪ .‬ﻓﻜﺎﻧﺖ‬ ‫هﺬﻩ‪ ،‬ﻣﻀﺎﻓﺎ اﻟﻴﻬﺎ ﻧﻌﻤﺔ اﻟﺮب اﻟﺘﻲ آﺎﻧﺖ‬ ‫ﺗﻌﻤﻞ ﺑﺎﻟﺨﻔﺎء‪ ،‬ﺣﺼﻨًﺎ ﻣﻨﻴﻌﺎ وﺗُﺮﺳًﺎ ﻗﻮﻳﺎ‪،‬‬ ‫اﺣﺘﻤﻰ ﻓﻴﻪ اﺑﻨﺎء اﻟﺮﻋﻴﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺨﺘﻠﻒ‬ ‫اﻋﻤﺎرهﻢ واﻧﺘﻤﺎﺋﺎﺗﻬﻢ اﻟﻌﺮﻗﻴﺔ‪ ،‬ﻣﻦ آﻞ‬ ‫ﻣﻐﺮﻳﺎت اﻟﺤﻴﺎة وﻣﺨﺎﻃﺮ اﻟﺸﺮور‬ ‫اﻟﻤﺤﺪﻗﺔ ﺑﻬﻢ ﻓﻲ هﺬا اﻟﺒﻠﺪ‪.‬‬ ‫وﺗﻮﺳﻌﺖ اﻟﻜﻨﻴﺴﺔ ﻓﻴ ﻤ ﺎ ﺑ ﻌ ﺪ ﻟ ﺘ ﺤ ﺘ ﻀ ﻦ‬ ‫اﻟﻌﺪﻳﺪ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺠﻨﺴﻴﺎت اﻟﻌﺮﺑﻴ ﺔ ﻣ ﻦ اﺑ ﻨ ﺎء‬ ‫اﻟ ﺮﻋ ﺎﻳ ﺎ ﻣ ﻦ اﻟ ﻤ ﻘ ﻴ ﻤ ﻴ ﻦ ﻓ ﻲ ﺟ ﻨ ﻮب‬

‫آﺜﻴﺮا ﻋﻨﺪﻣﺎ ﻳﺰورهﻢ اﺣﺪ اﻟﻜﻬﻨﺔ ﻗ ﺎدﻣ ﺎ ﻣ ﻦ‬ ‫اﻟﻮﻃﻦ‪ .‬ﻓﺘﺮاهﻢ ﻳﺘﺴ ﺎﺑ ﻘ ﻮن ﻟ ﻴ ﻨ ﺎﻟ ﻮا ﺷ ﺮف‬ ‫دﻋﻮﺗﻪ اﻟﻰ ﻣﻨﺎزﻟﻬﻢ اﺣﺘ ﺮاﻣ ﺎ ﻟ ﻪ وﻟ ﻜ ﻬ ﻨ ﻮﺗ ﻪ‬ ‫اوﻻ‪ ،‬ﺛﻢ ﺗﺒﺮآﺎ ﻣﻨﻪ‪ ،‬وﻟ ﻜ ﻲ ﻳﺴ ﻤ ﻌ ﻮا ﻣ ﻨ ﻪ‬ ‫ﻣﺒﺎﺷﺮة اﺧﺒﺎر اﻟﺒﻼد‪ ،‬ﻟﻴﺲ آﻤﺎ ﻳﺴﻤﻌﻮﻧﻬﺎ ﻣﻦ‬ ‫اﻟﺘﻠﻔﺎز أو آﻤﺎ ﻳﻘﺮأوﻧﻬﺎ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺠﺮاﺋﺪ‪.‬‬ ‫وﻗﺎم ﻋﻠﻰ ﺧﺪﻣﺔ اﻟﻜﻨ ﻴ ﺴ ﺔ ﺑ ﻌ ﺪ اﻻب هﺸ ﺎم‬ ‫اﻻب ﺟﻮرج اﻟﻔﺎر اﻟﺬي ﺧﺪﻣﻬﺎ ﻟﻤ ﺪة ﺧ ﻤ ﺴ ﺔ‬ ‫ﺤﻀﱢﺮ ﻟﺪرﺟﺔ‬ ‫ﺳﻨﻮات‪ .‬وآﺎن ﻓﻲ ﺗﻠﻚ اﻻﺛﻨﺎء ُﻳ َ‬ ‫اﻟﻤﺎﺟﺴﺘﻴﺮ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻔﻠﺴ ﻔ ﺔ‪ ،‬ﺛ ﻢ اﺗ ﺒ ﻌ ﻬ ﺎ ﺑ ﺪرﺟ ﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﺪآﺘﻮراة ﻓﻲ ﻧﻔﺲ اﻟﺘ ﺨ ﺼ ﺺ‪ .‬وﺟ ﺎء ﺑ ﻌ ﺪﻩ‬ ‫آﺎهﻦ اﻟ ﺮﻋ ﻴ ﺔ ﺣ ﺎﻟ ﻴ ﺎ‪ ،‬اﻷب رﻳ ﻚ ﻓ ﺎن دي‬ ‫وﺗﺮ‪ ،‬واﻟﺬي آﺴﺐ ﻣﺤﺒ ﺔ واﺣ ﺘ ﺮام اﻟ ﺠ ﻤ ﻴ ﻊ‬ ‫ﺐ اﻟ ﺠ ﻤ ﻴ ُﻊ ﺑ ﻪ‬ ‫ﺠ َ‬ ‫ﻋ ِ‬ ‫ﻣﻦ اﻟ ﻮه ﻠ ﺔ اﻻوﻟ ﻰ‪ ،‬وأ ْ‬ ‫ﻟﺘﻮاﺿﻌﻪ أوﻻ‪ ،‬وﻟ ﻜ ﻮﻧ ﻪ اﻣ ﺮﻳ ﻜ ﻲ اﻻﺻ ﻞ‬ ‫وﻳﻨﻄﻖ اﻟﻠﻐﺔ اﻟﻌﺮﺑﻴﺔ ﺑﻄﻼﻗﺔ واﺗﻘﺎن‪ .‬وﻳﺒﻌﺚ‬ ‫ﻓﻲ ﻧﻔﻮس اﺑﻨﺎء اﻟﺮﻋﻴﺔ اﻟﺒﻬﺠﺔ واﻟ ﻔ ﺮح ﻋ ﻨ ﺪ‬ ‫ﺳﻤﺎﻋﻬﻢ اﻻب رﻳﻚ ﻳﺘﺤﺪث اﺣﻴﺎﻧﺎ ﻣﺴ ﺘ ﻌ ﻤ ﻼ‬ ‫ﺑﻌﺾ اﻟﻜﻠﻤﺎت واﻟﻌﺒﺎرات اﻟ ﻌ ﺎﻣ ﻴ ﺔ‪ .‬ﻓ ﺘ ﺮى‬ ‫ﻟﻬﺎ ﺻﺪى آﺒﻴﺮا ﻣﻦ اﻻﻋ ﺠ ﺎب اﻟ ﻤ ﺼ ﺤ ﻮب‬ ‫ﺑﺎﻟﻔﻜﺎهﺔ‪ .‬ﻣﺜﻞ إﺟﺎﺑﺘﻪ ردًا ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﻦ ﺳﺄﻟﻪ ﻟﻤﺎذا‬ ‫ﻳﺘﻜﻠﻢ ﺑﺎﻟﻠﻐﺔ اﻻﻧﺠﻠﻴﺰﻳﺔ اﺛﻨﺎء اﻟﻘﺪاس اﻻﻟ ﻬ ﻲ‪،‬‬ ‫ﻓﻘﺎل‪” :‬ﻋﺸﺎن ﺑﻤﻮن ﻋﻠﻴﻚ ﺗﺘ ﺤ ﻤ ﻠ ﻨ ﻲ اآ ﺜ ﺮ‬ ‫ﻣﻤﺎ ﺑﻤﻮن ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﺸ ﺒ ﺎب !”‪ .‬واﺟ ﺎﺑ ﺘ ﻪ ﻋ ﻠ ﻰ‬ ‫ﺳﺆال ”ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺎذا ﺗﺸﻜﺮ اﷲ ﻳﺎ اﺑﻮﻧﺎ ﻓﻲ ﻋ ﻴ ﺪ‬ ‫اﻟﺸﻜﺮ اﻟﻴﻮم؟“ ﻗﺎﺋﻼ‪ “:‬ﺑﺸﻜﺮ اﷲ ﻋﻬﺎﻟﺮﻋ ﻴ ﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﺤﻠﻮة“ !‬ ‫وﻟﻢ ﺗﻘﺘﺼﺮ ﻧﺸﺎﻃﺎت آﻨﻴﺴﺘﻨﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻓﻌﺎﻟ ﻴ ﺎﺗ ﻨ ﺎ‬ ‫اﻟﺪاﺧﻠﻴﺔ ﻓﻘﻂ‪ ،‬ﺑﻞ ﺗﻌﺪﺗﻬﺎ وﺷﺎرآﺖ آ ﻨ ﻴ ﺴ ﺘ ﻨ ﺎ‬ ‫ﻓﻲ آﺜﻴﺮ ﻣﻦ ﻧﺸﺎﻃﺎت آﻨﻴﺴﺔ اﻟﻘﺪﻳﺲ ﻳ ﻮﺳ ﻒ‬ ‫اﻻﻣﺮﻳﻜﻴﺔ ) اﻟﻜﻨﻴﺴﺔ اﻟﻤﻀﻴﻔﺔ ﻟﺠﺎﻟﻴﺘ ﻨ ﺎ(‪ .‬وﻗ ﺪ‬ ‫ﺑﺮز دور آﻨﻴﺴﺘﻨﺎ ﺑﻬﺎ ﺑﺸﻜﻞ ﻓﻌﺎل وﻣ ﻠ ﺤ ﻮظ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻓﻨﺤﻦ ﻧﺸﺎرك ﻓﻲ ﻣ ﻬ ﺮﺟ ﺎﻧ ﺎﺗ ﻬ ﻢ اﻻﺣ ﺘ ﻔ ﺎﻟ ﻴ ﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﺴﻨﻮﻳﺔ‪ .‬وﻧﻘﻮم ﺑ ﺘ ﻘ ﺪﻳ ﻢ وﺟ ﺒ ﺔ ”اﻟﺸ ﺎورﻣ ﺎ“‬ ‫‪6‬‬

‫وﺗﺘﻤﻴﺰ رﻋﻴﺘﻨﺎ ﻋﻦ رﻋﺎﻳﺎ اﻟﺒﻄﺮﻳﺮآﻴﺔ‬ ‫اﻻﺧﺮى ﻓﻲ اﻟﻮﻃ ﻦ اﻷم ﺑ ﺎﻧ ﻬ ﺎ ﻗ ﺎﻣ ﺖ‬ ‫ﺑ ﻔ ﻌ ﻞ ﻣﺴ ﺎﻧ ﺪة اﺑ ﻨ ﺎﺋ ﻬ ﺎ ﻟ ﻬ ﺎ ﻣ ﻦ آ ﻞ‬ ‫اﻟﻨﻮاﺣﻲ‪ .‬ﻓﻬﻲ ﺗﻌ ﺘ ﻤ ﺪ ﻣ ﺎﻟ ﻴ ﺎ ﻋ ﻠ ﻰ ﻣ ﺎ‬ ‫ﻳﻠﺘﺰﻣﻮن ﺑﻪ ﻣﻦ اﺷﺘﺮاآﺎت ﺳﻨﻮﻳﺔ‪ ،‬وﻣﺎ‬ ‫ﻳﻘﺪﻣﻮﻧﻪ ﻣ ﻦ ﺗ ﺒ ﺮﻋ ﺎت ﺳ ﺨ ﻴ ﺔ‪ ،‬وﻣ ﺎ‬ ‫ﻳﺸﺎرآﻮن ﻓﻴﻪ ﻣﻦ ﻧﺸﺎﻃﺎت ﻣ ﻮﺳ ﻤ ﻴ ﺔ‪،‬‬

‫‪Among the activities of the AACC is the prepa‬‬‫‪ration of candidates for First Holy Communion.‬‬ ‫‪For many years,‬‬ ‫)‪Mrs. Lima (Musharbash‬‬ ‫‪Stulting has volunteered her service in prepar‬‬‫‪ing the candidates, along with other ladies from‬‬ ‫‪the parish. We have the pleasure to announce‬‬ ‫‪that the First Holy Communion ceremony‬‬ ‫‪will be held this year on Saturday, May 16,‬‬ ‫‪2009. First Reconciliation will take place on‬‬ ‫‪Saturday, May 2. As we congratulate our boys‬‬ ‫‪and girls for their patience and commitment to‬‬ ‫‪the preparation classes, we would like to invite‬‬ ‫‪everyone to remember them in your daily‬‬ ‫‪prayers, especially at the Holy Mass and when‬‬ ‫‪you pray the rosary, that God’s grace may fill‬‬ ‫‪their hearts and prepare them to receive the‬‬ ‫‪Holy Eucharist with the fullness of faith. May‬‬ ‫‪the Body and Blood of Christ strengthen them‬‬ ‫‪to be faithful witnesses for Him in their daily‬‬ ‫‪lives and protect them from all evil through the‬‬ ‫‪prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of‬‬ ‫‪God.
