Fire marshal training Approved by the Institution of Fire Engineers

FREE hi-vis fire marshal vest for all delegates trained in the South West

Why have a fire marshal? The cost of a fire can be high - to you, your staff and your business. On average in the last four years UK fire and rescue services attended 420,000 fires, 483 fire related deaths and 14,000 injuries. There are also legal implications relating to fire safety for employers. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that you must have an appropriate number of people with sufficient training as fire marshals to identify a fire hazard, assist in evacuation and help implement your preventative and protective measures. If you don’t, you could receive an unlimited fine. This course has been updated to take an interactive approach to learning and covers the prevention and combat of fire. It also gives you the opportunity to learn about the different types of fire extinguisher and how to use them correctly. How will this help?

Course content

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the ‘responsible person’ for the premises to carry out a fire risk assessment and ensure there is a sufficient number of competent fire marshals. This course will provide the skills and confidence to meet the regulatory requirements.

• The role and duties of the fire marshal • Liaison with the fire service • Action on discovering a fire • Fire safety legislation • The chemistry of fire • Common causes of fire • Fire safety precautions • Fire drills and evacuation • How to use fire extinguishers.

Who should attend? This course is suitable for those who are responsible for overseeing fire safety, designated fire marshals (wardens) and anyone who needs to know how to use a fire extinguisher.
