LIFE TOGETHER

ORDINATION INVITATION FROM DEACON JOSH JOHNSON

Dear Friends, The Easter season is the time of the church for the sacraments of initiation. Thus, we have First Communion and Confirmation always celebrated here during the Easter season. This Sunday is the celebration of First Communion and May 13th will be Confirmation with Bishop Muench presiding. These two sacraments express the content of initiation, for as we celebrate, so we believe. The center of our Catholic faith lies in the repeatable sacrament of initiation, Holy Eucharist. Confirmation is another occasion of the presence of the Holy Spirit, whose gifts fortify Christian living through the Church. Congratulations to our candidates. Pray for them. Yearly our parish offers thanks to those who have been faithful in ministries of service. The Ministry Appreciation Supper will be this Saturday, May 3rd, 5:30pm in Fr. Engels Hall and parking lot. Good food and fellowship abounding with many thanks! Next week, I will be joining the priests of the diocese for the annual Spring Formation Days. We will be staying in Lafayette for these days, May 5th- 8th. Bishop Muench has written a letter about these days to all in the diocese requesting your understanding about the absence of priestly ministry during these days we are away. I am including a copy of that letter in this week’s Bulletin. May is the month for graduation. We have students from our parish who are completing their high school and college work. To all of them the very best for the future, and prayers for your success. I hope the blessings of this Easter season are many and great. Love,

Easter at St. Jean Vianney Easter Season Celebration of First Eucharist - Sunday, May 4th 2:00 PM Celebration of Confirmation – Tuesday, May 13th 7:00 PM

With praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God, for you, the parishioners of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church it gives me great joy to invite you to my ordination to the Sacred Order of Priesthood. Now moving forward towards this final stage in my formation to serve Christ and you His Church, I extend to you the invitation to join me on the day of ordination. Given that you played such an integral role in my journey towards ordination, it would be an honor to have you present at this penultimate moment. My Ordination Mass will be at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on 2250 Main Street in Baton Rouge, LA, 70802. Some of the topics our parishioners are working on include payday lending reform, Medicaid expansion, education and criminal justice.
