The TRINITY of God: Our Pattern of Life Forever A fourteenth century Bavarian painting depicts the Holy Trinity as three persons locked in a loving embrace. Such a visual symbol of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit encourages us to reflect on how we come to know God in our midst. This biblical remembrance in the Liturgy of the Word given on this Trinity Sunday describes our belief in the core essence of God-as relational, as a community of love. Trinity Sunday expresses the dynamic of God in relationship to us. Jesus could not possibly address every situation that his followers would face, but that does not matter. The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth, Jesus says [John 16:13]. God’s concerns include the present and extend to the future. Notice how Jesus uses these types of words to describe the Holy Spirit’s activity: comes, will speak, hears, will declare…. Each of these words is understood from the knowledge of the Church that Jesus’ Passion will change everything. The relationship between the Trinity is not a static state of being but a constant interaction that sees God responding to our changing needs, living communally and engaging in conversation. We do not profess a God who is self-sufficient and unwilling to live in relationship with us. God the Father, Son and Spirit is living, who breaks through human isolation and religious divisions. This has implications for our wholeness as individuals and for the way we live together on earth. As individuals, do we want to be defined by what we produce or consume? Can we ignore the interdependence of all living things on our planet, functioning in isolation? Can we see in the community of the triune God a reflection of how we should be living in liberating community as God’s own people? The painting from the fourteenth Century can be a symbol for the human community, overcoming fractious self-absorption, ritually embracing and restored to unity.
LIFE TOGETHER Dear Friends, The grace of this time of the liturgical year unfolds with the Church calling to Holy Orders two men: Joshua Johnson, to the Diaconate, and Joseph Vu to Priesthood. Both men will be welcome additions to the Presbyterate of the diocese. Please pray for them, and for their ministry among us. The week of Directed Prayer, June 15th-21st, is being offered in our parish as a new initiative to add to our annual men and women retreats. This Week, called Lightworks, will be very different from the men and women retreats, as it will utilize the service of trained spiritual directors who will meet with their directees daily Monday-Thursday of the week. This meeting usually lasts about an hour, and would be at a mutually convenient time and/or place. The Director will help listen with the directee on what is God doing your life? How is God moving in your life? This unique opportunity can be a true blessing, even if you are a beginner at prayer. Give it a try. See the bulletin for details. Summertime is here and I know that many are getting out of Dodge at least for a little while. Its good to go and usually good to come back. Where ever you go, keep The Lord in mind. I will be meeting with the Parish Building Committee for the first time in early June. We will take a look at the next steps for the projects of the Capital Campaign. The Campaign goes well. I know you may get tired of hearing me talk about it each week either in the bulletin or in person. The effort to create a sense of urgency to bring the Campaign to an end takes effort -as much effort as to raise $3 million. So, pardon if you`ve heard it before. If so, please smile. If you`ve not heard of what we are doing, I`m happy to talk with you! So, did I tell you I planted my square foot garden? I`m prepared to sell my abundance on the roadside, so be on the lookout. Watch out Southside Produce. Have a good week ahead. Love,
WEEK OF DIRECTED PRAYER HERE June 15th-21st The Parish will offer a week of directed prayer June 15th-21st allowing parishioner participants to explore their prayer lives along with a trained spiritual director. Utilizing the services of the Marian Servants of the Eucharist, who have been trained in the Jesuit Ignatian spirituality, participants will begin with a general meeting on June 15th, 9:00am in the Parish Library. Then, the participants will meet daily with their Director either at the parish or at a mutually agreed place and time completing the week with a group closing on June 21st. This unique opportunity will introduce a person to spiritual direction, deepen his/her experience of the spiritual life and growth in his/her relationship with the Lord. More information about registration is coming soon.

Regardless of the case, we can help you find out if your employer will match your gift. Talk to Fr. Tom or Debbie Daigle at the parish office, 753.7950 so we can help you help us.
