Wanderings

by Kristine Carrick

The early sampling of summer-like weather makes me want to run to my community farmers market, pack a picnic, put a basket on my bike and ride off to explore a new area. This summer I’m keeping closer to home; both with the food I’m buying and the activities I’m participating in. Here’s a few that are on my summer list: SPEAKING OF BIKES We think the Fraser Valley Slow Food Cycle tours are on to something! Jump on your bike, or rent one for the day, and join a self-guided bike tour in Agassiz, July 27th or Chilliwack, July 28th. Don’t worry about packing your purchases, the registration includes parcel pick up so someone else carries your finds. Visit FraserValleyCycleTours.com. Registration starts at $15/person. WHO GROWS THERE? I appreciate the connection with my local producers at the community farmers market. Knowing where my food comes from and who grows it, just makes it taste better. Visit BCFarmersMarket.org to discover a market in your area.
