WELCOME TO THE WIRED OPEN LABS Offering a range of creative opportunities our 2018 WIRED OPEN LABS workshop series will be sure to inspire while developing new skills and social networks. WIRED OPEN LABS continues the significant expansion of The Wired Lab’s community workshop programs, and throughout 2018 will provide the Eastern Riverina and South West Slopes region with access to outstanding creative specialists with workshops to suit every creative appetite. At each workshop participants will meet like-minded people and be provided with delicious snacks and refreshments including coffee and herbal teas. The majority of our workshops cater to adults and teens, from beginner through to experienced artists. Bookings are essential and note that places for our workshops fill very fast.

COFFEE CONNOISSEUR Adrian Capra, Art of Espresso

In this 2.5 hour workshop you will learn: > Coffee appreciation and understanding; > Basic introduction to coffee and its origins; > Understanding the taste of correct and incorrect extractions of coffee; and > Basic steps for the home coffee machine operation and general maintenance.

In this 4.5 hour workshop you will learn: > How to take the best possible portraits; > Lighting techniques for portraiture with studio and natural lighting, and how to find natural light that imitates studio conditions; and > The tools of photographic portraiture, including camera settings, angles and how to capture mood. Each attendee will have the chance to analyse and discuss results of the techniques that work best to capture the human form. Introductory class suitable for beginners. In this 6 hour workshop you will learn: > Basic botany and how to accurately draw leaves, including foreshortening; > Observation of light and shade; > Watercolour mixing and painting techniques how and when to use them; and > How to paint shine on a leaf’s surface. Each attendee will create a new artwork, while learning how to capture the beautiful shapes, contours and veins on different types of leaves using botanical illustration methods. In this 3 hour workshop you will learn: > How to create beautiful textiles using the ancient process of shibori dyeing; > Expand your fabric and textile knowledge; and > Upcycle fabrics. In this 4.5 hour workshop you will learn: > The fundamentals of silicon mould making; > The art of resin casting using fast curing resin; and > How to finish jewellery using hand sanding and other finishing techniques.
