SEAHOLM RESIDENCES // Austin, TX // 615,000 sf The Seaholm Residences is part of the Seaholm Power Plant Re-Development, a 7.8-acre neighborhood, which includes a 67,000 sf mixed-use low-rise and 128,000 sf adaptive reuse Power Plant. Seaholm Residences completes the development, rising 30-stories high with 280 luxury condos, comprised of four different unit types with 18 floor plans. The goal was to design a tower that would reflect the iconic nature unique to the historic, Art-Deco Power Plant. The balcony pattern design, which draws the eye up the height of the building, is a horizontal play on the Power Plant’s vertical exhaust stacks. The high-rise was completed in September 2016, but all its units were reserved in about a week’s time – a record period for any downtown Austin project. Located at the crossroads of the Central Business, Market, Warehouse, and 2nd Street Districts, the AEGB Four-Star Seaholm Residences is considered the new center for downtown living.
SKYLOFT // Austin, TX // 422,000 sf The 22-story tower is located just blocks from the University of Texas at Austinâ€™s West Campus. Included is 212 units with a total of 677 beds and four stories of underground parking. The amenity-centric student housing space will have a rooftop pool, fitness center with 180 glass views, 24-hour study lounge and media lounge. A portion of the units will be offered as affordable housingto be accessible to all students.
BOILER NINE BAR + GRILL // Austin, TX // 9,600 sf As part of Austin’s iconic Seaholm Power Plant Re-Development, Boiler Nine Bar + Grill has been transformed from the shell of the Power Plant’s largest boiler to a multi-level restaurant. Each section offers patrons three distinct experiences with their own drink and food menus on each level of the space. Upon entrance on the ground floor, the bar and grill serves as the main dining area and pays homage to the facilities’ rich history by highlighting the existing infrastructure. Through the addition of a mezzanine, the space is able to take advantage of the additional height views the shell of the boiler offers. At the top of the restaurant is the 2,800 sf Deck Nine Observatory Bar, offering a more casual, relaxed dining experience with views of Downtown Austin. The basement – The Boiler Room – serves as a swanky bar establishment that is truly reminiscent of the history of the structure. It is an intimate space that offers visitors a comfy, speakeasy experience. The design that went into Boiler Nine Bar + Grill and the Seaholm Power Plant Re-Development is thoughtful, innovative and nostalgic for all the Austinites that recognize this building as such an integral part of Austin’s history.
SALT & VINE // Nashville, TN // 3,600 sf Salt & Vine is located in Sylvan Heights, an up-and-coming urban neighborhood near Nashvilleâ€™s growing downtown. The vision for the space was to incorporate a neighborhood wine bar, as well as a charcuterie market, that features good food, good wine and various coffee offerings. A unique aspect of this space is how many different services are offered - there is a barista in the front with grab-and-go food options, a charcuterie counter, and a retail display area with dry goods and produce. Further back is a wine bar with a wealth of seating for lunch or dinner as well as a private event room for special events. An adjacent 400 sf package shop is convenient for patrons to grab a bottle of wine on the go or to pair with their meal. There is a large number of residential homes and apartments within walking distance of the space, making it a perfect neighborhood destination for residents to enjoy.
HOUSTONIAN // Houston, TX // 3,548 sf STG Design used our extensive amenity building and clubhouse experience to renovate the Houstonian Associate Locker Room wet areas. STG Design began the process with imaging boards to develop an interiors direction that was the right blend of modern and upscale. We worked to develop unique solutions in each area, creating an experience that allows the Houstonian Associate Members one that reflects the value of membership at the club. Dealing with existing systems and space, the renovation timeline and scope challenged the team to provide unique and carefully crafted spaces that allow the heavily used facility to operate smoothly and durably. The design throughout included large-format tile, stone pebbles and quartz countertops. The renovation included the addition of â€œtherapy showersâ€? featuring full body jets and a soothing massage setting.
48 EAST // Austin, TX // 280,000 sf STG Design was selected to design an apartment tower in Austin, TX. 48 East is a 33-story point tower situated on the edge of downtown in the burgeoning Rainey Street District with views Lady Bird Lake and the downtown skyline. The concept of ‘urban nature’ draws inspiration from Austin’s casual culture and the two distinct landscapes through implied movement, the use of natural and urban materials, and proportional geometry. The building will consist of 246 apartment units, each balcony access, and structured parking.
LAKEWAY RESORT & SPA // Austin, TX // 17.5 acre property, various sf The Lakeway Resort and Spa was originally constructed in the late 1960s as a weekend lake retreat. With its commanding lake views and natural assets, the 18-acre site is considered a premier property on Lake Travis. Behringer Harvard Real Estate Investments retained the services of STG Design and Lake|Flato to develop a strategy and master plan for renovating and developing the site with new site elements and a new 18,000 sf ballroom, spa building and pool complex. The ownerâ€™s goal for the project was to reestablish the connection to Lake Travis and the natural environment while creating an experience that is consistent with a four-star property. STG Designâ€™s responsibilities for the project included: both the interior and exterior renovation of the existing 170-guest room inn building; the design of a new resort pool complex; the renovation of the original lodge building to enhance the restaurant; bar and 24,000 sf of meeting room areas; interior design of the new spa and ballrooms; and collaboration with Lake|Flato on shell design of spa and ballroom buildings, for which STG Design acted as the Architect-of-Record.
HYATT LOBBY, BALLROOM & PARKING GARAGE // Austin, TX // 28,500 sf + 760-Car Garage STG Design provided architectural design, construction documents and construction administration services for the new hotel entry, new porte cochere, renovated terrace overlooking Lady Bird Lake and renovated first and second floor public areas including lobby, bar and reception desk. The Hyatt Regency Conference Center is designed to complement the existing hotel while providing a new image for the Hyatt along Barton Springs Blvd. While analyzing the site for its highest and best use, it became clear that the challenge would be to provide the needed parking for the hotel and allow for any future expansion that may happen. STG Design has provided a solution to incorporate both a parking garage for 760 cars and a new 25,000sf ballroom and lobby space that is connected to the existing hotel at the second level. This allows the patrons of the hotel and those utilizing the existing meeting rooms to travel back and forth without interrupting of vehicle circulation or hotel check-in traffic. The space includes an outdoor terrace above the covered entrance with panoramic views of Auditorium Shores and Lady Bird Lake. The connecting link expands the circulation and pre-meeting space all at the second level, above the daily hotel.
CALLAWAY HOUSE AUSTIN // Austin, TX // 588,000 sf The Callaway House Austin is a student dormitory and apartment building serving the University of Texas at Austin. The 17-story high rise is one of the largest student housing building near the UT Austin campus, with approximately 219 units (753 beds) and over 650 parking spaces. The project is located one block west of campus and is within the City of Austin’s “University Neighborhood Overlay” zoning, which allows increased height and density in exchange for urban design requirements as well as an affordable housing component. Accelerated construction of the Callaway House Austin allowed for occupancy three months ahead of schedule. The project is LEED® Certified™ and received three stars from the Austin Energy Green Building program for sustainability.
CLIMB NASHVILLE // Nashville, TX // 3,000 sf STG Design provided architectural and interior design services for the interior renovation of Climb Nashvilleâ€™s 13,000 sf climbing facility. One of the premiere enclosed recreational areas of its kind on the East Coast, the space contains an impressive 40 vertical feet of climbing wall. The facility is comprised of a full workout area with exercise equipment, a yoga studio, showers and a gear shop. Another area of the facility is designed to relax with massage therapy and includes a conference room to accommodate larger groups.
THE LODGE AT CAROLINA LAKES //Indian Land, SC //13,000 sf The Lodge at Carolina Lakes is a 13,000 sf neighborhood amenity center located on a lush, South Carolina golf course. As the second amenity center that STG Design has designed for this community, it was crafted to fit the needs of the client, as well as residents. Carolina Lakes connects its community in a multitude of ways including an outdoor pool and exercise recreation area, tennis court, banquet facility and a public lounge space that can hold up to 250 people. STG Design provided full architectural and interior services including furniture and site development.
FOUR SEASONS RESORT // Nevis, West Indies // Various sf The Owners of the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis engaged STG Design to assist in further developing its resort hotel and spa on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean. The scope of work included an effective rebuilding of neighboring “dive” following its purchase to both maintain the island culture and provide the level of service and ambience consistent with the Four Seasons’ customary standards of excellence. The scope also included a major expansion of the resort’s spa and fitness center, the addition of a new ocean side pool and bar and a series of improvements to the employees’ back of house operations areas.
