My name is Andrew Stephenson and I am a third year Digital Media and Business Dual Degree Student. I have concentrated my study mostly on brand management specifically marketing and graphic design. Throughout my Business course I have enjoyed looking at both sustainability in the supply chain and how marketing can impact on consumer’s use of products and product packaging. Reduction of waste in the transportation process as well as secondary uses or re-use of packaging can provide industries with innovative ways to reduce wastage and costs associated with these processes.

profile

My design course has helped me to recognise the importance of detail in creating cohesive visual imagery. The use of a variety of different medium to create a brand and branding elements has given me confidence to pursue more creative ways to communicate to an audience. I believe communication is extremely important in all facets of life and the power of branding can exponentially increase a product or service’s ability to communicate to both it’s intended and unintended audiences.

The following work is for a packaging redesign that I entered into the southern cross packaging design awards. I addressed the problem of unsustainability in the cosmetics industry, specifically the use of lipstick containers and their wastage. My solution was to change the plastic materials currently used and re-evaluate the logistics of delivering an aesthetically pleasing product to the consumer.

Branding colour

stacked and inline

The glide cosmetics logo should be produced in the pantone or full colour version when in print.

The glide cosmetics logo should be used in its original stacked form where possible.

Black and white versions can be used in grayscale or black and white advertising campaigns, however, the glide brown should be used whenever possible.

On the side of lipstick containers the inline version should be used with the circular logo left only for use on the end of lipstick containers.

Watermarks can be used on stationary and should be used taking into account the details below.

clear space There should always be clear space around the logo to ensure it’s prominance in advertisements.

PMS 498 R 102 G 51 B 51 C 41 M 78 Y 67 K 45 HEX 663333

20%

The amount of space is based on the thickness of one of the lips present in the logo. This ratio will provide the basis of the amount of space needed.

size The length of glide cosmetics original logo should not be less than 40mm. glide cosmetics inline logo can be 30mm in length to fit on lipstick containers. The circular g logo can be as small as 20mm in length in order to fit on the end of lipstick containers.
