Hi. I’m Steve, and I welcome you to join me in my glass studio for a fun and informative workshop. I have been working with kiln-formed glass and enamel powders for around 20 years. Don’t worry if you have never worked with glass before, or even if you don’t consider yourself to be a creative person - I’ll show you the techniques I have developed and help you to create your own beautiful glass to take home and feel proud of. My aim is to give you an enjoyable experience in a relaxed environment – and hopefully inspire you to learn more about this amazing material!

Choose from the following workshop types: • Evening Taster Class – 2 hours On this taster session you’ll make your own large freestanding curved tealight panel in any colours or pattern that you’d like. • Full Day Workshop - Inspiration Day or - Freestyle Day On either of these days you’ll really get to immerse yourself with the enamels, and create your own wall art. • Two Day Course We’ll look at additional techniques such as mould-making to create relief in your work, and you’ll get chance to make test samples on the first day, before creating your masterpiece on the second day. Read on for more details on each workshop …

“The sun is shining through a piece of work in our window making me feel very proud of myself”

Evening Taster Class This is a great introduction to glass fusing with enamel powders. During this class you will make your own large curved tealight panel (approx. 19cm tall) which I’ll fire for you overnight, ready for collection from the next day (or we can post it on to you). Whether you already work in glass, or are a complete novice, I will tailor your tuition accordingly. The glass will be cut and prepared for you, so you will get to concentrate on the best part – working with the colours! You might like to create an abstract oceanic pattern or produce something more pictorial, perhaps incorporating a motif such as a seahorse or tree shape. Places on this class are limited to 15. Duration: Cost:

1.5 to 2 hours £45

Full Day Workshop – Inspiration Day This is the perfect choice for those who are less confident to design the artwork themselves, as I have come up with the ‘inspiration’ for you. You will make up to three wall panels of 25cm x 25cm. You can choose from several designs that I have already produced, and I will show you how to recreate these in the glass, using stencils that have already been prepared. You could choose a different design for each panel, or you might like to create two or three different versions of the same design to form a diptych or triptych display. Some of the designs available to choose from are shown to the left, and more can be viewed on our website. Places on this day are limited to 5. Duration: Cost:

8 hours £295 (including a pub lunch and refreshments)

Full Day Workshop – Freestyle Day This workshop is aimed at those who have their own ideas and are keen to create their own unique design, which I will help you to achieve. You will make a large panel of 30cm x 60cm (or you can choose different proportions so long as the overall area of glass is around the same, to make it fair to everyone). Usually this will be a wall hanging, but it can be curved so that it is freestanding if you prefer. I recommend that you have thought ahead about some design ideas, and you are welcome to show these to me in advance so that I can advise on the suitability. Depending on the nature of your design you may need to make stencils to create it, and all materials will be provided for this. Places on this day are limited to 5. Duration: Cost:

8 hours ÂŁ295 (including a pub lunch and refreshments)

Two Day Course This course is recommended for those who have attended one of my previous workshops, and who are ready to expand their knowledge and experience of glass and be a bit more adventurous! On the first day you’ll be able to make some test pieces which will be fired that night, so you can see the results the following morning. We can look at mould-making if you would like to create three-dimensional ‘relief’ in your work, as well as glass cutting, and using liquid medium to paint with the enamels. On the second day you’ll be able to assess the results of your samples so that you can make any tweaks necessary as you work on your main piece - a large wall panel of 30cm x 60cm (or you can choose different proportions so long as the overall area of glass is around the same, to make it fair to everyone). Places on this course are limited to 4. Duration: Cost:

8 hours x 2 £595 (including pub lunches and refreshments)

Frequently Asked Questions: What does the cost include? The all-inclusive cost covers: your tuition, all materials that you will be using, use of protective mask, apron and gloves, the item(s) you make to take home, wall fixings with which to hang it (if applicable) - and on the full day workshop and courses your pub lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The only extra costs will be if you ask us to post your glass to you, and if you wish to buy additional wall fixings (for mounting your sample pieces too). Can I bring a friend? To allow everyone plenty of space to work only those paying for a place will be able to attend during the day. However - your friends and family are welcome to come in at the end of the workshop to see the fruits of your labours before your piece is fired in the kiln, and when you come to collect your glass. Who is it suitable for? I recommend only coming on the two-day course if you have attended a previous class with me, but the evening class and full day workshops are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with experience as I will tailor your tuition appropriately. If you have any special access requirements please contact us first to discuss the suitability of our premises. Where is it?
