“I think this school has a lot to give as it relates to the recruitment of young men. There are a lot of kids that are really aspiring to get a quality education, and Stetson can give them that. I want to make sure we capitalize on that. We want to bring talent that maybe hasn’t been seen at Stetson. It creates a great challenge for me, so I’m thrilled. I can’t tell you how I feel inside. I’ve had my tearful moments with my family and close ones. I’m eager and anxious over the reality of having my own program. I’m excited, thrilled, and fired up to get ready to go.” Williams, 43, earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Oklahoma State in 2002. He and his wife, Nicole, have two children: Jourdan (13) and Corey, Jr. (9).
COLLEGE BASKETBALL COACHES ON COREY WILLIAMS “Corey Williams is an outstanding choice to be the head basketball coach at Stetson University. He is a tremendous person who has worked hard and prepared himself throughout his career to be a head coach. He has been an integral part of our success on the court and in the success of our players in the classroom. Corey is a proven winner at every level of basketball and has been involved in all phases of our program – from recruiting to academics to strength training and on court coaching – and helped us win the 2012 ACC Championship and play in a school record four consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
