Recap of Journal Club Thank you to Natalka and Dr. Gurmit Singh for leading our journal club discussions this month! Natalka introduced us to research being done on the sex differences in responses to pain. We covered the disparities in immune-mediate responses and psychological coping strategies to chronic pain in males and females. Dr. Singh explained the use of cannabinoids as an alternative therapeutic measure in managing neuropathic pain. We also learned that this prospective treatment will require further research due to sexual dimorphisms.

Tips for working from home in the era of COVID-19 Use a calendar! Whether it’s on paper or on your phone, this is the best way to visualize what your day, week and month will look like. Find a workspace that allows you to be productive! This space can look different for everyone but it should be where you can focus and work efficiently. Use the Pomodoro technique! This technique is proven to help you concentrate and achieve your tasks. Use it when you're trying to meet a deadline at work or studying for your next midterm. Learn more about it here.

Schedule breaks where you can step away from your computer! If you can, take a walk outside, stretch a little bit or jam to a song before going back to work. Stay active: workout at home, go hiking and if you’re in Hamilton go (safely) see some waterfalls! Socialize (safely!): Zoom game nights with friends and family, online study sessions, virtual extra-curriculars
