HUB A NEW TRANSIT ARCHITECTURE

The Efficiency and speed of the autonomous vehicle will effectively blur the line between private and public transportation, transforming the Park & Ride typology into a legitimate Hub within transportation systems .This Hub is a train station for cars. It is a transfer point from autonomous vehicles to rapid transit systems that operates at the scale of the Commuter Bus and the efficiency of the Commuter Rail. The autonomous vehicle as a type of public transportation will live within the realm of the commuter bus and commuter rail, reaching its threshold of efficiency just outside the central-city limits. This threshold occurs when the speed/ efficiency of rapid transit exceeds the speed/ efficiency of commuter transit. This new inter-modal center will occur within this threshold. This node will act as a transfer point from autonomous vehicle to rapid transit system, getting the commuter to their preferred location within the city faster, cheaper, and at a greater convenience than other methods of commuter transit. 5

Technology Research Center

The Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Project offers a potential model for the future of green cities. There are ambitious goals for reducing reliance on fossil fuels responsible for toxic air pollution in many Chinese cities. The low-carbon neighborhood is scheduled for completion in the year 2020. The task was then to establish a type of industry that would emphasized the city of Shenzhen’s integration of the low carbon development mission. We were then tasked to redesign an existing paper factory building to house this intervention. The final program was a computer research center modeled after Microsoft’s research agenda with three(3) main sectors, Computer Science, Innovation Engineering, and Research Connection. The building’s organizational structure was made to function like a computer. Each sector was separated into units represented by volumes withing the existing Framework, while the circulation system, the bus, was designed to facilitate collaboration between each sector. - In collaboration with Kolby Forbes 15
