WINTER WHALE WATCHING FROM REYKJAVIK 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

TRON03

Operating: October 01, 2013 - April 15, 2014 10

www.travels.is

Splashing Winter Whale Watching tour with Reykjavik Background The winter season has proven to provide an exciting and adventurous whale watching experience. Day 1 - Arrival

When arriving at Leifur Eiriksson Keflavik airport, you will board the non-guided schedule bus (Flybus) for a transfer to Reykjavik City and check in at your hotel.

Day 2 - Whale Watching

After a filling breakfast you will be transferred to the harbour for a winter whale watching tour. The winter season has proven to provide an exciting and adventurous whale watching experience. The most common whales during winter season are whitebeaked dol- phins, harbour porpoises, humpback whales and killer whales. The winter whale watching is different from whale watching in summer time not only because we spot other species, but also because the weather can be quite
unpredictable. On rare occasions, we depart from other harbours in the area where weather conditions might be more convenient.

It is therefore our experience and flexibility that make winter whale watching possible in Iceland. After the tour you will be dropped off at your hotel. Now is an excellent time to take a walk in downtown Reykjavik to see many of the museums, shops, coffee shops and people.

Day 3 - Ideal day for excursions

From Reykjavik there are many great excursions. Why don’t you visit the Blue Lagoon or go on the famous Golden Circle tour.

Day 4 - Departure Depending on your flight we will arrange for you to be picked up at your hotel for your departure home by Flybus.

SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE 7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS

TRON07

Snowmobile Tour 7 Days in NORTH ICELAND Imagine showing up at the creation of the Earth, no trees, no wild animals save for the odd fox, varieties of water birds and predatory birds such as owls, hawks and ravens. This is a country of stark contrasts and raw nature. A volcanic island on the edge of the Arctic, where in a day you can see geysers, volcanoes, glaciers, turbulent glacial rivers and tranquil lagoons. Drink pure cold delicious water from a mountain brook and bathe in geothermal hot springs. Everything around you is a reminder that this is the land of spectacular but savage natural elements that are at the same time creative and devastating. There is nothing like snowmobiling in Iceland. Breathtaking is a word most often used by snowmobilers as they sit on a snow-covered knoll, shadowed by the mountains in the Troll Peninsula in Northern Iceland, watching the northern lights dance across the winter sky or riding in the mild temperature in the spring and the continual daylight of the Arctic sun. The view is unmatched, the experience unforgettable.
The land of fire and ice rewards those who brave the elements with an experience like no other.

TRDAA01: Golden Circle Glacier Ride – Super Jeep & Snowmobile Combo Tour

While the south is certainly spectacular from “below” nothing beats experiencing it from “above”, snowmobiling on top of Mýrdalsjökull glacier - an icecap covering one og Iceland’s largest mountains, Mt. Katla. Explore and experience the wilderness and the breathtaking views over South Iceland.

The Golden Circle tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena. Our first stop is at the Þingvellir National Park 40 min due east of the city. Þingvellir is one of Iceland’s most historic sites as it was here that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD.

The snowmobile tour is the perfect length of time for first-time riders and individuals looking for a scenic, fun ride, exploring and experiencing the wilderness, glacier and the breathtaking views over South Iceland. The tour starts at the farm Sólheimakot, after a short briefing and dressing up in a snowsuit we step into a super-jeep and we drive up the mountain to the glacier where we pick up the snowmobiles and ride to the top of the glacier Mýrdalsjökull. The glacier adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities to remind you of probably your best day in the wild and pure Iceland. We provide you with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride – bring only yourself. Our guides will take you through safety procedures and equip you in special clothing and helmets. The snowmobiles will not be a problem – it is just a matter of squeezing the accelerator or the brake.

From Þingvellir we head along gravel tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around the Geysir hot spring. This is the one spouting hot spring that all such phenomena on Earth are named after. From there we continue on to Gullfoss (“the Golden waterfall”) where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face. Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and go for a snowmobiling tour on Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier.

DAY TOURS

TRDQUAD01: Mountain Safari The more adventurous traveller will love the Mountain Safari tour, a fantastic quad bike/ ATV tour in the Reykjavik area. Travellers can explore the serene, picturesque outback of Iceland’s capital city on either quad bikes or ATVs. This enjoyable adventure tour begins about 15 minutes from most of the hotels in Reykjavik, and is guaranteed to be fun for the entire family. The Mountain Safari tour is perfect for beginners, and anyone looking to try something new while enjoying the outdoors. Using quad bikes and ATVs has made the back country of Reykjavik accessible for everyone in a way that is both fun and safe. People who have never been on a quad bike before do not need to worry. Many tour guests are first timers, and the skilful guides are trained to give special care and attention to those new to this mode of transportation. The bikes are extremely easy to operate, and the tour guide gives both operational and safety instructions before every tour. From the base camp, the ride starts on a gravel road along the scenic Lake Hafravatn, before moving up a mountain trail to the very top of Hafrafell. Once at the top, you are met with some amazing views over the entire Reykjavik area and the surrounding mountain range. For tourists without a lot of time, the Mountain Safari Tour is a great choice for a half-day adventure. Tours departures are available both mornings and afternoons to fit into anyone’s busy schedule.

TRDQUAD02: Twin Peaks

For a one of a kind, complete Quad and ATV experience, spend your time riding off the beaten paths in the outback areas of Reykjavik and experience amazing panoramic views over the entire city and bay area from the peaks of mountains Hafrafell & Úlfarsfell. As the name suggests, Twin Peaks is an extended version of the popular Mountain Safari tour that has an extra mountain top added into the mix. This tour is a little more technical and offers a more complete ATV and Quad experience, combining mountain tracks, gravel roads, rocky paths, and steep climbs. The Twin Peaks adventure begins at the base camp with a calm ride on a gravel road along the shore of the scenic Lake Hafravatn, before heading up a mountain trail to the very top of Hafrafell. Standing at the top of the mountain gives you amazing vies of the Reykjavik area and the surrounding mountain range. This first leg of the trip takes about an hour, and typically gives riders more confidence so that they can safely head over to Mountain Úlfarsfell, where the views over Reykjavik, the Reykjanes Peninsula, and the bay area are second to none. On a clear day, you can even see Snæfellsjökull glacier, which is located hundreds of kilometres away. Twin Peaks is the ideal choice for travellers who want a little more excitement and something other than a simple introduction to quad bikes. It is recommended that you be in relatively good physical shape to participate in this tour, and that you are able to ride for three or more hours in rough, outdoor terrain.
