PRIVATE HOUSE Project Year Location

Interior Design - Private flat restoration

The project is about realizing a new flat from two adjacent flats of a

2014/2015

1800’s building.

10041 - Carignano (TO)

The aim was to make new spaces with an attentive study of perspective.

Italy

So we chose not to use only orthogonal walls but to introduce a new shape to characterize the entrance and then the living room and the kitchen. The importance of the curve is recognizable thanks to the walls 8

CERAMICS MUSEUM Project Year Location

Interior Design - Museum exhibition

The restoration of the Regional Museum of Ceramics of Caltagirone

2014/2015

involved five rooms: the Entrance, the Pharmacy room, the Holy room,

10041 - Carignano (TO)

the room called “Sala delle Botteghe” and the “Corridoio dei figurini”.

Italy

The project took place in a very famous place regarding Ceramics, so we wanted to value this art and all the different kinds of vases and similar. I’ll focus my attention on the Entrance, the Holy room and then the 4

“Botteghe” room.

The Entrance We made the Entrance a place that would arouse visitors curiosity and

2

fascinate them. So we used some hanging backlit panels to describe the history of the town and explain the production of ceramics. Then,

1

thanks to a mirror, we created a play of reflections which brings the visitor to the Black Corridor, when the visit starts with some information

The Holy room The exhibition in this room aims to create an holy atmosphere in order

1

to show religious ceramics: it wants to remind the spiritual journey of believer towards the Virgin Mary, who represents the heaven. The project is characterized by a visual cone which shows to the visitors

the statue of the Virgin Mary during the whole exhibition itinerary in this room. During this “spiritual journey” visitors can watch ceramic fonts and read informative panels.

The “Botteghe” room This room is called “Sala delle Botteghe”, which means the place where artisans were used to work and make their products. Here ceramics are the main characters of the room. To celebrate them, we chose to match ceramics with fashion, so we proposed to expose some clothes of Dolce&Gabbana which have images and colours of the famous ceramics of Caltagirone. To make spectator the simple visitator of the museum, we projected a staircase to recreate the atmosphere of a runway show. Projecting this room, we did our best to reuse the old showcases, so we wedged some of them in the staircase or we designed them again.

IN & OUT Project Year Location

Redevelopment of a factory

“In & Out” is a project about redeveloping an abandoned factory in

2015/2016

the suburbs of Turin, in an area characterized by many transormations.

Corso Novara, 12

The aim was to convert the whole project in an intervention of

reactivation and social catalyst of the area.

Italy A large part of the exsistent structure of the building has been preserved but, at the same time, many passages to the interior courtyard have RESTAURANT + BAR

been opened, in order to increase the permeability of the lot. The new interior square is sorrounded by the old factory buildings, where new activities take place, and it’s closed by a new residential building along the principal road (Corso Novara).

The variety of activities covers the necessities of a large target of people, in order to convert this place in a nucleus of the area. So this place can be lived during all the day by different types of people. This new complex is characterized by an high permeability without compromising the privacy and the search of quiteness of the new inhabitants.

Scenic design for the opera “The Elixir of Love”

This workshop deals with designing a scenic design for the opera

2015/2016

“Elixir of Love”, written by Gaetano Donizetti.

Teatro Regio

The basic idea is to elaborate simple and geometrical forms, instead

10138 - Turin

of recreate the setting described in the Opera.

Italy So on stage there are three layers of cubes with different dimensions, the smallest in the fron row and the higher behind, which represent the building of the village and the bucolic sorroudings. We have also designed the parapet for these cubes: it is made up of wood cross-bonded sticks and it wants to represent trees and bushes. Some of these cubes are movable so the scenic design can be tranformed for the various acts and situations described in the Opera.

We also deigned the costumes for each character: every costume has a different colour in order to represent the personality and the role of the character it is designed for.

THE SPONGE Project

Urban renewal in a quarter of Turin

The quarter of Mirafiori Sud is located in the suburbs of Turin. The

Year

2015/2016

analysis we conducted on this area show that this quarter is made up

Location

Mirafiori Sud

of many dense blocks, similar for

10138 - Turin

dimensions but various for types of buildings.

Italy

For this reason we have identified many different areas, the operable spaces, where is possible to intervene with a redevelopment project in order to transform the use of this spaces. To achieve this aim we have reinterpreted the urban public weave and we have extended it into the blocks, developing urban porosity: here is born the name “The Sponge.

This intervention is possible thanks to many little volumetric increase, made into the blocks or on their limits. The new spaces realized in this areas have residential and commercial uses. These new buildings are realized and menaged by public and private costumers.

We defined the rules which have to be followed to redesign each operable space.

Urban renewal and restoration of the S.Anna Church

This academic project is about the renewal of the marketplaces of

2015/2016

Carmagnola, a small city in the Metropolitan area of Turin, connected

Old town centre

with the restoration of the S.Anna Church, located in one of this squares.

First of all we made many surveys and a mapping of this squares with different measuring instruments. After that, a new system of shelds, together with the redefinition of the urban flooring and the construction of a cafè and an auditorium/ exposition hall, creates a new suggested route throughtout the city. The insipration for this project is the Fibonacci’s spiral and it can be found in the design of the “market way”, which creates a new connection between the two squares and design different spaces, where people can walk, buy or just stay.

Piazza IV Martiri has a new theatre where concerts, theatrical performances or any other kind of show can take place. At the same time a new auditorium is earmarked for temporary expositions, GREEN

TO SHARE Project Year Location

Superelevation of a residential complex

The design concept focuses on the creation of a simple but unusual

2015/2016

architecture, which can offer, at the same time, a different composite

Via Pietro Cossa, 280

solution and a different way of life in Turin.

10138 - Turin

The project provides for the superelevation of six buildings af a

Italy

residential complex in the susburbs of Turin, and also their energetic retrofit.

The concept is based oh three different ideas: Village, Nature and Sharing. Nature is very important because it takes up much space in this project and contributes to create a “locus amoenus, a relaxed place in the city. Also the idea of sharing is important because of the function of the new building, which is a Cohousing for 40 new families. The structure of the building is a wood framework, which ensures lightness and an excellent thermal insulation.

Then we have also designed a masterplan, characterized by some interventions in order to improve the area with new pedestrian tracks and many new green spaces, intended not only for relax but also for orchard, greenhouses and vegetable gardens.
