Teams will be able to use 2018 registered players to take part in any VB Challenge Cup fixture. Twenty (20) players are able to take part in each VB Challenge Cup fixture. Games shall be played in four (4) quarters of twenty (20) minutes duration each, with quarter time, halftime and three quarter time breaks of 5 minutes. NB In the event of extreme weather the league reserves the right to reduce game times. There will be time off for stoppages as indicated by the referee. The VB Challenge Cup will be played as a round robin competition over three (3) weeks. Two (2) pools of four (4) teams will play matches over three (3) weeks with teams in both pools playing each of the other team in their pool. Teams finishing on top of the respective pools will advance to the final. Teams will be awarded two (2) points for a win, zero points for a loss. Should more than one team be equal on points at the end of pool rounds, points differential (points for minus points against) will be used to determine the pool winner. If, at the conclusion of an VB Challenge Cup fixture scores are level, as per CRL rules two (2) extra time periods of five (5) minutes shall be played. If scores remain level after this period of extra time, the match will then enter a period of golden point until the first points are scored and a winner determined. The International Laws of the Game will apply. Interchange. Unlimited interchange of players will be permitted in all VB Challenge Cup fixtures. Players being replaced must cross the touchline before a new player enters the field of play in an on-side position. A player who has been replaced may later in the game act as a replacement. Any situation not covered by these playing conditions shall be referred to the league representative at the ground. The decision of this representative shall be final. The finalists of the VB Challenge Cup will be entitled to automatic entry into the NSW Challenge Cup at the top eight (8) stage. If any team declines this option, Illawarra Division Rugby League Inc may determine another team to take their place. Points shall be awarded as follows during Rounds 1 - 3 of the VB Challenge Cup; 2 Points for a win 0 Points for win Note - as any match which results in level scores after normal playing time will proceed to 1) extra time and then if required 2) golden point, a drawn result will not be possible If two (2) or more teams have an equal number of competition points at the completion of three (3) preliminary rounds of pool matches, the rankings of teams shall be determined by applying the following criteria; A) Greater positive difference between points scored for and points against; and if still equal then B) Greater percentage of points scored for and against, determined by the following formula; (points scored x 100)/(points conceded x 1); and if still equal then C) Most tries scored; if still equal then D) Most goals kicked; if still equal then E) Most field goals kicked; if still equal then F) A toss of the coin in the case of the two teams
