Not all learning at St. Edmund Prep occurs in the classroom. St. Edmund provides a wide variety of athletic opportunities that are designed to aid in the overall development of our students while being consistent with the mission of the school. Participation in interscholastic athletics provides students with a significant opportunity to become involved with their peers and their coaches in an educational experience that takes place outside of the classroom. Being a participant in Eagle athletics fosters leadership, teamwork, time management, and community responsibility. Our athletic directors and coaches work together, teaching the proper fundamentals of their respective sport as well as endorsing a healthy respect for competition and sportsmanship. Indeed, the Athletic Department encourages our student-athletes to take the lessons they have learned through practice and competition into their lives outside of St. Edmund Prep.

Alumni Scholar Athlete - David Louison ‘11 St. Joseph’s College ‘15 “The Prep instilled in me countless values of discipline, time management, and hard work that have translated well into both the classroom and the office in which I now work today. I learned to be selfless, I learned to be humble, and I learned how to maximize my potential on the basketball court.” David graduated Summa Cum Laude as the Valedictorian of his class. David now works as a paralegal specialist in the civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office - Southern District of New York. He is currently attending the University of Michigan School of Law. On the basketball court he excelled, scoring over 1,600 career points at St. Joseph’s, being recognized as USCAA First Team All-American, and was the first Brooklyn student-athlete to receive CoSIDA/ Capital One Academic All-America First Team honors.
